Which is ridiculous. I've never seen God WITHOUT a face mask, and neither has he.

(115,693 posts)If God exists (which is a whole 'nother discussion), presumably he would be immune or impervious to viruses, being immortal and all - and anyhow, if he made everything he made viruses and could have made them so they wouldn't infect him. This Ohio GOPer dude, however, is not God and is not immortal, so IMO not wearing a face mask because God doesn't is both dumb and arrogant. Someone might remind him why he, a mortal human, should wear a face mask even though God, an immortal entity, doesn't have to. God doesn't get sick, you idjit.

(201 posts)By definition, God is the Supreme Being, not human, and would be completely beyond our limited human understanding. But this guy know's the mind, and self protection habits, of God. Just like the one's saying how hurricanes and other natural disasters are because God is pissed about transexuals, gay marriage, glbt people in general, etc. Or that Paula babe telling people to send their utility payments to her instead of paying for electricity.
The utter ARROGANCE of these people who "know" the mind of God amazes me.
For the record, I was raised Catholic, but am agnostic now (I WANT to believe, it's just my rational mind stops me from doing so). The Catholic church just had too much I don't agree with; confession ("God knows what I did, can't I atone in prayer instead of confessing to a priest?" The nuns did not like that question, or questions in general), original sin and limbo for unbaptized babies (you canNOT get more blank slate than a newborn, and always had issues with the paying for the "sins of the fathers" argument), etc.

(12,712 posts)It is amazing just how arrogant modern McChristians are. Really. They tempt their God and show little humility towards even Him. That kind of assumption is not religious or devout, IMHO. That's a whacked-out red bag of insolence.
I recommend he read his Bible and get on his knees in repentance for trivializing that deity he supposedly worships. And what about other, more devout Xtians? Crickets? There is so much of this tomfoolery of religious childishness that there failure to rebuke their own makes them complicit and certainly does nothing to illustrate what are basic principles of the religion. Their fundamentalist faction is making a true mockery of it all in broad daylight a shouting it across the land via media.
Oh, and my views are that God doesn't exist, nor does He not exist. How do you put a face mask on the unknowable? Often, for these folks their god is a reflection and projection of themselves, so if you pay attention it might make more sense.

(1,706 posts)this disguise is in the form of people who care about others at least as much as they care about themselves. This caring might even take the form of wearing a mask when there's a pandemic.

Total nonsense to think of God (god-ness or Goddess) as 'other', as an object of my awareness, just one more thing thing to be known by the limited human being, one among the many things in, and or outside of the (so-called) creation.
My mind turns in knots trying to understand the mind of a dualist (me and God as separate entities), and their limited God.

(42,558 posts)33 When Moses finished speaking to them, he put a veil over his face. 34 But whenever he entered the Lords presence to speak with him, he removed the veil until he came out. And when he came out and told the Israelites what he had been commanded, 35 they saw that his face was radiant. Then Moses would put the veil back over his face until he went in to speak with the Lord.
