Kansas board delays decision on keeping Obama on ballot

Kan. board delays decision on keeping Obama on ballot

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) - Kansas officials want more information before deciding whether to remove President Barack Obama from the state's November ballot.

The State Objections Board heard arguments Thursday on a claim from a Manhattan, Kan., resident that Obama is not eligible to be president because his father was from Kenya. The resident, Joe Montgomery, also questions whether Obama has a valid birth certificate.

The president released a copy of his long-form birth certificate last year, and Hawaii officials have verified his citizenship repeatedly.

But the Kansas board -- made up of the secretary of state, attorney general and lieutenant governor -- said Thursday it wants certified documents from Hawaii and two other states where similar questions about Obama's citizenship have been raised.

born in Mexico. And demand to have DNA proof of which of his grandfather's wives actually birthed the line of Romneys currently in the US and proof of HER citizenship status. And ask if the Romney who fled to Mexico had given up his US citizenship. And ask for original marriage documents for all the wives.

That'll throw everybody into a tizzy. Oh, ask for all military records too for male Romneys going back to the Civil War.

At least we have lots of thin athletic liberals and science/tech jobs. I get anxious even driving through Kansas. Its like being stuck in a malfunctioning holodeck that keeps replaying the same scene over and over.

something really fucked up. Kansas really needs to get a grip on itself. More people continue to leave the state and the recent census study shows poverty continues to increase in Kansas. If they weren't continually F'ed up over religion, being right wing and a host of stuff, maybe more people might have a better view of Kansas. The way it is now, if you go to other places and say you're from Kansas, people laugh at you!

Not a big deal. More of a negative for the officials involved if they are foolish enough to deprive their electorate of a choice of candidates.

presence in Kansas has been pretty much wiped out by the Koch Brothers. And many people that vote think they're back in Eisenhower times.

I think the backlash all across the country will be something fierce. To deny a major candidate--and sitting president no less--a place on the ballot based entirely on some racist bullshit that's been discredited time and time again would not only backfire in Kansas, but it will highlight all the other Republican efforts to win the election by rigging the vote, from Florida to Ohio to Pennsylvania. It will affect not only Romney, but every Republican in every race nationwide.

These people are beyond extreme, beyond desperate. Their minds are entirely clouded by the smoke of their own hatred.

We are watching the birther, teabilly implosion of the G.O.P. This is the result of whoring out their party's ideology for money and votes. The G.O.P. is no longer the party of Lincoln. They're the party of batshit crazy.

Those that follow college basketball know there is a bitter rivalry between Missouri and Kansas. (perhaps was, because Missouri moved to the Southeastern Conference)

Commonly on those forums, Kansas fans refer to Missouri fans as "slavers". I guess this goes all the way back to the John Brown/pre civil war days as Brown was from Kansas.

So this blatant racism (yes...it is racism) seems to defy Kansas heritage.

Perhaps a native from Kansas can elaborate? Am I far off base?
