Oh my! The Onion's front page is NSFW right now!

Can't link because one of the pictures is exceedingly naughty (the one for the article "No One Murdered Because Of This Image&quot , but hey, if you make it over there yourself, you too can be entertained!

This is all they have left to work with.

And in another two weeks the right-wing crazies may have taken this over too.

I mean, how is The Onion expected to do satire when there are people out there talking about "legitimate rape"?

The point is that there is really only one religion out there that becomes so unhinged at a picture of their guy that they don't like.

I don't have any use for any of the religions, but clearly one of them stands alone in this regard.

Criticizing the Obama administration’s response to the current crisis in Libya and Egypt, Mitt Romney told reporters Wednesday that we should never, under any circumstance, apologize for the values that make this country great, such as our belief in the right to practice religion without persecution, our commitment to the freedom of assembly, or the overwhelming xenophobia that led to the relocation and internment of more than 110,000 Japanese-Americans during World War II. “As Americans, we should never feel the need to question who we are or what we stand for, whether it’s our strong commitment to family or whether we’re rounding up a group of innocent people, separating them from their friends and loved ones, and putting them into what are essentially overcrowded prisons because they happen to be of Japanese descent,” Romney told the assembled press corps, adding that free speech and concentration camps are American ideals that should be cherished, not second-guessed."

Not to mention stealing their belongings.

Tom Russell wrote the song and IMHO his versions are better, but no UTube, so here's Tom Paxton:

The USA did not stand alone interring the Japanese. Canada did it too. Another song about the personal ramifications ... this one from James Keelaghan:

When asked by reporters what American values are exactly, or what the phrase American values even means, Romney stared at the press, blinked several times, and walked off stage.

...but in terms of the real human impact, I couldn't help but recognize 'Romney's proclamation' of internment as an American value.

Thanks very much for your post.

George Carlin... 2008...

Now, if you think you do have rights, one last assignment for you. Next time you’re at the computer, get on the Internet, go to Wikipedia. When you get to Wikipedia, in the search field for Wikipedia, I want you to type in “Japanese Americans 1942,” and you’ll find out all about your precious fuckin rights, okay? All right. You know about it. You know about it. Ya. In 1942, there were a one hundred and ten thousand Japanese American citizens in good standing, law-abiding people, who were thrown into internment camps simply because their parents were born in the wrong country. That’s all they did wrong. They had no right to a lawyer, no right to a fair trial, no right to a jury of their peers, no right to due process of any kind. The only right they had, “right this way” — into the internment camps. Just when these American citizens needed their rights the most, their government took ’em away. And rights aren’t rights if someone can take ’em away. They’re privileges, that’s all we’ve ever had in this country, is a bill of temporary privileges. That, if you read the news even badly, you know that every year the list gets shorter and shorter and shorter.

Verb:

Confine (someone) as a prisoner, esp. for political or military reasons.

but spell check didn't tell me that I erred in writing 'interring':

To place in a grave or tomb; bury.

Maybe there is no real difference.

WASHINGTON—Following the publication of the image above, in which the most cherished figures from multiple religious faiths were depicted engaging in a lascivious sex act of considerable depravity, no one was murdered, beaten, or had their lives threatened, sources reported Thursday. The image of the Hebrew prophet Moses high-fiving Jesus Christ as both are having their erect penises vigorously masturbated by Ganesha, all while the Hindu deity anally penetrates Buddha with his fist, reportedly went online at 6:45 p.m. EDT, after which not a single bomb threat was made against the organization responsible, nor did the person who created the cartoon go home fearing for his life in any way. Though some members of the Jewish, Christian, Hindu, and Buddhist faiths were reportedly offended by the image, sources confirmed that upon seeing it, they simply shook their heads, rolled their eyes, and continued on with their day.
