"pastor" Terry Jones returning to Dearborn in Oct. to protest "aggressive bullying" by Muslim gangs

There are no words to describe my feelings for this publicity-seeking agitator. The events of the last few days are certainly going to turn this into a real media circus.

DEARBORN — Terry Jones recently announced that he’s coming back to Dearborn in October.

On Tuesday afternoon, the pro-Christian, anti-Muslim pastor from Gainesville, Fla., and his group, Stand Up America!, announced Oct. 10 as the date in an email.

In a follow-up email, Stand Up America! spokeswoman Stephanie Sapp wrote that the protesters plan to be on a sidewalk in front of Edsel Ford High School, 20601 Rotunda, about an hour before school lets out, which is 2:25 p.m. She added that there’s no significance tied to the date. The school has a mix of Muslim and non-Muslim students.

Mary Laundroche, a city spokeswoman, said as of early Wednesday afternoon, Jones or Stand Up America! had not applied for a special events permit.

The Stand Up America! announcement said that Jones will protest what he calls “aggressive bullying by gangs of Muslim youths” in public places, including schools. It also said that Jones has been contacted by Dearborn residents who said there are rising tensions in the area between Muslims and non-Muslims.
