They have burned their bridges. All will be shunned by the GOP for life.
Maybe, just maybe, Republicans could forgive them for taking down trump sometime in the distant future, but the Lincoln Project is doing more than that. They are targeting vulnerable GOP senators in a bid to give Democrats a majority in the Senate.
There's no direction home. They took everything that they could steal.

(7,863 posts)Rick Wilson, Steve Schmidt, George Conway will start recruiting Republicans to run against them...

(23,573 posts)I hear they endorse social security, expanding health care, expanding minimum wage.
If they are ok with George W Bush republicanism that is pro corporate and pro greed but would have handled the pandemic much much better than trump, it's not enough for me.
I fear they will want something from Biden in return for their help getting him elected.

(11,045 posts)whether it's pushing for 'something from Biden in return', or offering support to conservative Democratic candidates , they should be kept well and truly the outer.

(68,703 posts)to moderate voters for national and state elections (in all but the bluest states). We have to win. and that means a 50 state strategy and a Big Tent party. I really do think this is a realignment election...and if we play our cards right, we can get much progressive policy passed...won't make everyone happy but we move forward. Once people got a taste of the ACA, they wanted more and this will happen again.

(36,747 posts)Either it decides to become a regional, racist party or purge that element and rebuild to become a modern party with modern ideas.
The $50 I gave to the Lincoln project will fuel that conflict.
I believe in asymmetric warfare.

The day will come when I never have to hear Susan Collins' concerns and dissapointments again.

(11,045 posts)They are members of an extinct political tradition. We don't need dinosaurs with no place to go. No Goldwaters or Boltons. None of them.

(36,747 posts)Their goal is a purge of the Repuke party.
That conflict serves the interests of the Denocratic party and the nation as a whole.

That group made republicans appear acceptable.
No, don't care

(11,045 posts)That's what consultants to. It's the job description. To be clear, I don't what them, or anyone like them, anywhere near the Democratic Party. They chose the wilderness, and can stay there.

(11,045 posts)And continue to target their enemies in the GOP. They hate them. Hate them for leaving them without a party. Losing friends for life. Losing careers. All the rest.

(20,709 posts)I'm not interested in David Frum, Bill Kristol, Jennifer Rubin, or any other right-wingers pulling the Dems to the right.
I welcome their votes. I don't welcome their ideas.

(32,640 posts)I thought we were all supposed to put issues first, ideas first and the source last... and not simply reject the idea because one doesn't like the person.
When did you change your mind on this?
But I'll bite - how are they "pulling Dems to the right?" What are some examples of "dems" reacting to their words by steering to the right? To the right on what issues?
Are you finding yourself "pulled to the right" when you peek at what they are writing?

(5,502 posts)You have to think there are three main things motivating them: 1. Free Trade; 2. They know Putin cannot be trusted; 3. They hate Trump.
Is there a point when Kelly Anne steps away from Trump and tells the world, George is right...

(3,145 posts)At the end of the day they are still the same old Neocons we hated in Shrubs administration.
Make no mistake, they are NOT moderate or centrist.
They have no beef with social security cuts or bloated defense spending. Theyre okey dokey with slashing and burning welfare and steep tax cuts on the rich.
They hate Trump but would be fine with Raygun or Bush.

(21,815 posts)They are convinced that the problem with the GOP is Trump, and if they remove him, they can get their Grand Old Party back.
If we had a President Ted Cruz or a President Marco Rubio or a President JEB! Bush, they would think that is just dandy.
To me, they are opportunists.
The only thing I have in common with these guys is our mutual disgust with Donald Trump.

(37,163 posts)They're still doing what they did before the election: positioning themselves to be the kingmakers in a post-Trump Republican party. They're building the escape route: pretending Trump is an aberration and not the cumulation of the direction they themselves had been taking their party.
