Trump to claim 'absolute immunity' from subpoenas in Supreme Court appeal.

Yup, he's finally going there......................if they let away with this, he can do absolutely anything he wants.

https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/president-trump-claim-absolute-immunity-subpoenas-supreme-court/story?id=70576085&cid=social_twitter_abcn

Attorneys for President Donald Trump this week will ask the U.S. Supreme Court to grant him sweeping immunity from investigation by Congress and local prosecutors into his conduct as a private citizen, as long as he's still in office.

During oral arguments in three cases Tuesday, the justices will explore Trump's claim that he cannot be subjected to subpoenas or any criminal investigative process, by virtue of the demands of the presidency.

The assertion of expansive presidential power comes as Trump faces an array of mounting requests for his personal and business financial records. His efforts to challenge the subpoenas in federal courts have, so far, been unsuccessful at every level.

"These are critical cases that are going to decide whether or not a president, in office, has presidential immunity for the duration of the time that he is sitting in office," said Claire Finkelstein, a criminal law expert at the University of Pennsylvania Law School and director of its Center for Ethics and the Rule of Law.

"It would literally put the president above the law if the Supreme Court sides with the president's lawyers in this case," Finkelstein said.

The outcome will also determine whether Trump -- the only modern American president to have not publicly released tax returns or divest from major business interests while in office -- has to share more personal financial information with voters before the November election.

Jones was unanimous. I think the court will find a way to punt this one and kick it back to the courts to be determined in a different light. That would effectively be a victory for Trump as it delays a final ruling by many months, if not a year or so.

We'll know the fix is in for this election, and Roberts was possibly bribed, or threatened, and was compromised and forced to rule in his favor protecting trump and putin. Wonder if their are records showing trump has been calling him doing what he's done to others before cases are settled. That's trumps pattern , so did he do this or have others pressuring him for protections preventing him getting exposed? Who else was called and pressured with Roberts? Roberts if he does rule in trumps favor will get exposed if that is the case, and maybe Justice Kennedy's situation where he abruptly retired ,was it forced.

he is, during the laughable "Impeachment Trial" Moscow Mitch knew he had Roberts in his pocket, before the trial even began. If tRump is allowed to skate on these matters, then we can start calling him "King Donald". From day one, he has been treated with kid gloves, but WHY? He is a joke of a president, or even a human being. Laughable on any given day. Even Roberts has to see that, doesn't he?

I chose something else because I realized early on that I had enough bs and drama in my personal life that I didn't want to experience it at work too. I also am not thrilled with arguing all the time. So I became a lobbyist of sorts for a while. I had my good days and accomplishments but nothing that would ever make the evening news... and I didn't really care for the atmosphere of the whole lobbying environment.

Now it seem that every topic has an argument to go with it along with some kind of controversy... it's so draining. And I am thankful I have been able to retire albeit on disability, I am at least out of the rat race and able to tend to my permanent wounds from life of hard labor... I'm not planning on getting really old.

Does the Court really want to go there? Frankly, what's the point of a fucking Constitution, if the President can act with absolute immunity from prosecution? It would render it a mockery, but in light of Congressional malfeasance and the subversion of justice over the past 3 years, perhaps it already is a mockery.

If they give the President, what amounts to unlimited power, then the Supreme Court has tossed the Constitution out the window.

If they ruled in the President's favor, there would be nothing standing in the way of him eliminating political opponents. If a member of the congress disagreed with the President, he could simply kill them, or have them killed. It wouldn't take long before people understood the rules. A president with this kind of power could rule for life.

A lawyer only needs to to ask one, well maybe two, questions to completely destroy this argument...

Why did the founding fathers put impeachment in the Constitution, and how is is actionable if the president has absolute immunity?

Look we all know the argument is complete bullshit. It was made because they knew drumpf could stall long enough to finish out his term by dragging it through the courts. Mission accomplished.
