Rs want to reopen before the rich become obvious targets for mega increased taxes

When asked why he robbed banks, John Dillinger replied “that’s where the money is.”

With 30-million-and-climbing Americans out of work, with the economy tanking, with the virus yet to hit its stride and with the country in a general malaise, it it becoming abundantly clear that we are many months away from normal. Tax revenues are down, payrolls are evaporating, people are losing their health insurance - the average Joe is in no position to help in any bail out of state, local and Fed budgets. That will not be changing anytime soon.

So, where can government turn to mitigate the effects of spending trillions of dollars it doesn’t have? That’s obvious - to the super wealthy, whose combined total worth is about $50-trillion. Guess what? The money is there, and the majority of that money is where it is due to government policies that intentionally directed it there.

Time to rob the wealth bank. Time to call in the chit that has allowed the few to amass wealth beyond the dreams of avarice, if for no other reason than all other options are exhausted.

This is what the rich fear more than anything - a luxury tax that seizes maybe 50% of their assets for the good of the country. Socialism that still allows them to be disgustingly wealthy but that shows our capitalist system for what it really is.

a previous football commissioner said, "trump will never own an nfl team."

and, of course, the drive to own the country clubs that would not accept his membership.

There’s enough money to give every adult at $1000 UBI until this passes. There are other countries with more robust safety nets and they don’t have the chaos we have here.

6. The rich are already obvious targets, IMO. Let's start by rescinding Trump's tax cut for them.

Those who never wanted either of those things but have had to pay taxes to support the wealthy tax cuts and wars

10. How much of that wealth is from our tax dollars in the first place? That should be pounded.

What the 1% rake in on taxes is way more than they pay out. Corporate officers at defense contractors is an easy one. Almost all of their salaries are courtesy of us taxpayers. Oil company execs and investors. We buy mega shit tons of fuel for the military and all other federal, state and local governments.

They'll fight it tooth and nail. Apparently the 1% folks haven't yet realized our current economic disaster will require another FDR-like New Deal to save their precious capitalist system. Anything else and they could find themselves in the middle of a real revolution.
