Pardon me if this is a stupid question but...

shouldn't the protesters be mad and the guy who made the film, this Nakoula Basseley Nakoula?

He wanted to create this violence, should the hatred be directed towards him and not America?

we do. The fact is that they are misinformed just like our anti-abortion protesters for example. Although, we can't seem to inform our religious crazies, a media blitz in the Middle East would probably have a positive effect. They seem to be interested in facts and fairness.

In many of those countries, many could not conceive of such a film being made let alone published without government permission.

Even if they accept that it was independently created, they cannot accept that the government could not stop its distribution now.

Their limitations, inflamed by leaders with their own agendas are what is leading to the violence.

Mature societies deal with trash like the video appropriately.

They'll get around to the filmmaker.

Edit: changed "consent" to "approval"

I would think the outrage over the film would be directed at the producer of the film and not America in general.

That the government tacitly approves anything if it doesn't ban it. In their countries, without a 1st Amendment, that how things work.

These mischaracterizations are also furthered by their own versions of Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck, who gin up animosity against the US through conspiracy theories. "America is at war against Islam", which isn't hard to promote, especially by referring to people like the actual Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck.

This is pure political opportunism all the way around, and the low information people on all sides are up in arms.
