Can you really do sports when there is massive death and suffering going on?

I think its a fantasy that we are going to have any sports this year. maybe small things, tennis golfing. hopefully i am wrong, i like sports!

Forget about trying to lockdown teams somewhere safely for 8 weeks or whatever, hoping that no players get infected and what happens if a few players do? shut down the games again? if its LAkers vs Bucks in the finals game 2 and lebron and davis and another player test positive and have to be removed, can you really keep going and just let the lakers suffer a crushing series loss and call it a season? is that really fair?

BUT assuming that we CAN keep all players safe, games are safe, go sports!

Meanwhile still 2 thousand dead a day. Still 30 million suffering. going hungry.

A new red state wave flares up because those people dont care about science right when sports really gets back going.

3000 dead a day. Hospitals being crammed. Shortage of PPE....and lebron hits 40 in the first game of the finals, sports later!.....and morgues being over run bodies having to be stored in trucks, 3 more people close to trump have tested positive.....millions of starving people are lining up at food banks everywhere that are short of food, more children are being diagnosed with that new disease!.....etc......

can you see the optics? sports during death and suffering? to make sure that billionaire owners dont lose out on tv revenue?

people can watch the games in the hospital rooms on the way out of this world 8-(

Everywhere. People are homeless. Should we stop all sports, movies, music, etc until that's all done?

I get the need for safety but humans need release and a break from how hard life is, sports, movies, games do that.

and I think most (including the harder hit) would go along with that. Now whether there are huge consequences regarding health and mortality outcomes .. that's a different kettle of fish.

Out of curiosity, what is your thinking on youth sports .. say for instance high school track or cross country .. tennis .. soccer .. providing we have those same kids back in class next school year? It would be hard to argue that the health risk is greater for a tennis match .. than it is for sitting in a classroom.

during a depression we might not have enough money to play the market, but there is always a spare buck to bet on the patriots.

They were warned same time as us. A functioning government seems to be important to sports.

People not actively engaged in suffering and dying, or just survival even, still need to do stuff.
