Thousands of Trump voters who blindly follow Trump are now free to go out and spread the virus among themselves, among their families. Tens of thousands of people are going to get infected, many will die. There are already large outbreaks taking place in rural counties. Georgia is getting hit. Over the next couple of months you will see thousands of Trump voters die because they believe Trump is the savior, the chosen one, he is the only truth.
Trump voters are not just against stay at home orders. They are against taking any precautions. Many of them do not want to wear masks, social distance, because their savior told them so. Trump has told them, drink the poison. They are doing it.
Somebody wake me up. I must be dreaming.

(7,434 posts)Trump is a monster. He's killing because HE CAN. There doesn't need to be a rationale. Oh, we can make them up all right. But the simple and crude fact of the matter is that Trump knows that he's killing off thousands and he won't suffer for it because he can always set up another con game to woo the survivors into hanging on to his every tweet. The killing allows him to keep his brand while remaining "president." He can be tough on the virus, you know. He's tough. He can pretend that the deaths are collateral damage, or a little bit of "friendly fire" in the war against a disease. But that means that he holds very little value over life and death (for those who are fodder for his economic recovery), and that his "criminal negligence" amounts to outright killing.

(8,923 posts)because he thinks the economy will return to normal immediately,
specifically before the election, so that he can go on his Circus Barker Tour

If that means using his base to force the rest of us to get back

We know that his base will get sick. Yes, some will die, unfortunately they
will take some of us, with them, but Pendejo45 does not care.
He needs the economy as close to "back to normal" as he can get
it before the election.
Without the economy humming, he can't claim that his economy works.
Listen during his Circus Barker Tour, we will state, "... before the virus,
my economy was great. The best economy ever. Vote for me and we
will get back to that faster than any other depression ever."

(20,878 posts)I am now supposed to appear IN PERSON for a medical appt. to have medications that need to be refilled. They did it by TeleMed the last time around but now they want me to be there in person.
I queried them as to why and they said the health insurance I have would not pay for it again.
I do not know if this is true or not.
However, should I become infected and come home with it, my husband will likely contract it and die if he becomes infected as he is over 80 and has hypertension. His chance of death is at 90% given his age and medical issues.
I do not know what to do. It is a wait and see situation I was advised.
Well, I'll tell you something, I'm not going near this dump. The last time I was there, the bathroom had feces all over the toilet.
I have no options as to where else to go as there is a doctor shortage where I live. I will not be able to find another place that will take me as a patient given my DX and medication needs.
So, I have a choice. Do not go back and suffer and die or go and hope I do not contract COVID-19.

Jonestown indeed!
The stress of this situation is making me sick.
I'd have the DEATH of my husband on my hands!

Doctors Struggle to Get Paid for Telehealth Visits
Provider payments vary by states, plans, and shifting policies
As COVID-19 has forced more physicians into telemedicine visits, getting paid has been a struggle, providers told MedPage Today.
Telehealth reimbursement during the COVID-19 pandemic has increased rapidly compared with its previously slow uptake, but providers say they're not being paid to the extent they are being promised -- or anywhere close to the amounts they made with in-person visits. That's partially due to a lack of clear information and inconsistent policies across the country's patchwork of insurance plans.

Absolutely do NOT go in just for a prescription renewal.
Find a new doctor if you need to. One who is willing to write you a prescription after a video checkup.
Search for "on-line checkup and prescriptions" without the quotes.

(20,878 posts)I contacted the insurance company and they did not get it either.
I wrote said provider a letter.
The response was "We don't know where things will be at the end of July".
These people are either incredibly stupid or they want to off the likes of me, that is what I think.
It is disgusting.
I have absolutely NO INTENTION of showing up for the in-person appt. believe me.
The same thing is going on w/my husband.
They have failed to check him out for a long time and claim they were flagged by Medicare and they wanted to do a 'ZOOM' appt. w/him. He doesn't know what ZOOM is nor do I. I downloaded it and I couldn't figure it out.
The insurance company told me they should have provided him with codes to enter on ZOOM. He is almost blind and has a 60% hearing loss due to his time at the beginning of the Vietnam war! He does not know how to type or use a computer!
He was recently directed to the VA are they are blaming the hearing loss on his age, not the fact that he spent 3 years in a tank firing off rounds of ammunition!
I will try again for him to get this to work in any event. If I can't get it to work, we are both screwed. He doesn't care is what he says. I do care and he doesn't seem to have a grip on the reality of this because he is getting senile, that is the reality of it.
Anyway, is it not very clear what is going on here?
It is called genocide!
DAMN these SOB's. Its a two for one hit if I become infected. I could survive but he would have a 10% chance!
I will call them again when I pull myself together after I ingest a few Valiums!

(10,667 posts)The organizer simply sent everyone a link to click on, a meeting ID, and a password. She assures us that we do not need to download zoom onto our PCs.
Any doctor should be able to do something similar for a zoom appointment. That is, they have zoom on their computer, they host it, and they send you a link, a meeting ID and a password, and a meeting day/time. You just click on the link while sitting in front of your PC (which hopefully has a camera).
After tomorrow I'll hopefully be able to confirm that it indeed really was easy.

(6,565 posts)I'd switch to the VA. I don't know how far away you are from a VA Medical Center, but you can get all kinds of services from them at low cost.
Not sure if this still exists, but there was a program where you could go to community care and the VA would pay for it.
I have been treated very well by the VA. You can work the system for whatever you need. The only question is what will happen to the VA if Trump is reelected. But it sounds like you are getting dumped by your insurance company.
You can get set up with the VA without giving up your current insurance, but they will probably ask about your situation. Not sure what that means in the total picture.
They can't refuse you care that has been earned by prior service. Getting service-connected payments is difficult, however.
The VA will give you a high standard of care.

(6,565 posts)Not saying he can get something for his hearing loss. I'm saying, in general, that it would be way cheaper for the two of you to use the VA.
You should talk to a counselor to find out what's what. I had an $800 prescription that I paid $9/month for. You can't beat that discount. The government can take your SS if you fail to pay, but they won't take it all, and they won't kick you out.
Go get your VA cards. You don't have to use them, you know. Just another option.
Good luck, CAV.

(20,878 posts)In fact, we just got finished going through this whole thing last year.
I ended up paying for the hearing aid.
The local VA whatever it is was of no help and was the least bit interested in helping him. When they found out he was insured via me they said his age was the problem they figured.
We gave up. He has no way to get to the nearest full hospital some 200+ miles from here and I cannot drive him there as I am in far to much pain to do it.
So, here we are, DD214 in hand. The dispensaries honor it though. They give him 20% off. Other than that, no help. It was a timing thing they explained. Pretty disgusting IMO.

(6,565 posts)"If you're the spouse, surviving spouse, dependent child, or family caregiver of a Veteran or service member, you may qualify for health care benefits. In certain cases, you may also qualify for health care benefits due to a disability related to your Veteran's service. Find out if you qualify and how to apply.May 8, 2020"
Did you try to qualify for aid and attendance?
"Once approved for VA health care benefits, all Veterans "shall receive a hearing evaluation by a state-licensed audiologist to determine the need for hearing aids," according to the VA's 2014 directive for eye and ear care. However, not every veteran will necessarily receive hearing aids. As the directive explains (page 1-2), the following veterans are most likely to receive hearing aid care are:
"Those with any compensable service connected disability.
Those who are former Prisoners of War.
Those who were awarded a Purple Heart.
Those in receipt of benefits under 38 U.S.C. 1151.
Those in receipt of an increased pension based on the need for regular aid and attendance or by reason of being permanently house-bound.
Those who have a visual or hearing impairment resulting from the existence of another medical condition for which the Veteran is receiving VA care, or which resulted from treatment of that medical condition.
Those with significant functional or cognitive impairment evidenced by deficiencies in activities of daily living, but not including normally occurring visual or hearing impairments.
Those visually or hearing impaired so severely that the provision of sensori-neural aids is necessary to permit active participation in their own medical treatment."
Page 3 of the directive further explains what levels of hearing loss meets the criteria for an audiologist to prescribe hearing aids in this group.
In some cases, a veteran will not qualify for any hearing care benefits, or will have to pay co-pays. For additional information regarding hearing aid coverage through the VA, contact a representative at the nearest VA medical center to begin hearing loss treatment discussions.
Information on signing up for benefits, ordering hearing batteries, wax guards and other accessories is also found on the VA Health Care's Hearing Aids page."
It is extremely hard to get this extra compensation, to be sure. But, it's worth trying for because even $100 extra a month can be helpful. You can do something with that.

A story: I have used the VA as my medical care provider for years. I am seldom ill, or was, until I came down with severe RA. They treated me with what must have been thousands of dollars worth of testing, then dosed me up with expensive medicines, and fixed me. I will always have RA, but I have been treated well.
Before this happened, I would rarely visit the VA. But, one time I had to visit the ER because I really was sick. Well, this particular facility confiscated my VA card and issued me a red one, meaning I could ONLY visit the ER, and otherwise would receive no more care. How rude!
I went to another facility in a different city, told them my sad tale, and they said, "What nonsense!" and they promptly issued me a new, full service card. There I was, back in business.
I'm only telling you because sometimes it is a matter of who you are asking, and perhaps not the actual rule. You won't know until you try. Just dig around a bit.
I'm a veteran in my own right, but so was my mother. When she had her end of life stuff going on, the VA provided her with discounted home care nurses for several hours a week, which was to give me respite.
Remember, Google is your friend. Try again? Good luck!

I was advised to go to another doctor. They sent me the same old same old list. Nothing new at all.
So unless they change the policy, and they might as the lock-down was extended another 3 mos. I was told, the 3 mos. is up the day after my appt. is scheduled. If they won't do a TeleMed, I will not go.

(6,565 posts)Tell your doctor your fears. See if they will do a kind of drive-by appointment. Maybe you can preanswer standard questions. Something like that.
Set yourself up with a change of clothes and fix yourself up before entering your residence. Spray everything.
Or, you could spray your way to your shower. Scrub up and have your change of clothes ready in advance. Leave your shoes outside the door. for a couple of days in the sun. Bag your old clothes and wear gloves while you are washing them. Run disinfectant through your machine afterwards.
I vote (not that it's my business) for you to go get your meds. Keep yourself going. There's no guarantee that you'll get the virus. But if you run out of your personal meds, you could get sick from that.
