He said 'great job'. She said thanks. There were a few other things that I couldn't pick up.

(8,582 posts)The President told Secretary Clinton to put down her notes. She said that's okay. She didn't know what to do for a second, she was trying to be polite and all, but then she decided to put down her notes anyway on the podium - since Obama did say it was alright. That's what I heard whispered anyway.

(233 posts)That's what I think I heard also -- and I saw the gracious exit from the podium, followed by a firm clasping of their hands together almost out of sight. These two deserve honor and respect, each one in exactly the right place on the world's political and diplomatic stage.

(8,492 posts)I think at the very beginning there may have been a little tension, but they're both intelligent people and knew that working together was more important than personal feelings. After all these years together, I think they've developed a professional bond and friendship.
