This is NOT aimed at those who MUST go in to work, either as essential workers or my kids wont eat if I dont work.
My mother (who survived the bombing of Britain ((it wasnt just 1940))) said the current situation reminded her of the WWII posters: Is your journey really necessary?
I Googled it up:

The miracles of modern technology! Our health plan lets us refill prescriptions by mail over a landline! ((after the doctors decide to send letters to nag people to come in to get monitored via lab work)) ((isnt that so 70s??))
And with a computer, even more can be done.
So, what is a car for?
Required in-person medical appointments ((unless DARPA has a secret project, X-rays must be taken somehow and bones must be set/pinned, or more dire things Must Be Done for other conditions))
When I was a student, I could live on granola, peanut butter, canned veggies and tuna, rice and beans and pasta and the Sunday canned stew. Plus scarfing down all the ignored things at college event receptions, like salad items
I do twice-weekly shops (with the jury-rigged T-shirt armhole face covering) to shop slightly healthy (not all flyers come out on the same day), the 20 mile-a week circuit, to get produce, any specials and sometimes chicken ((seen markdown beef, or in some stores ANY beef lately? NOT)), mail bills at the PO (the mailman lost one of my outgoing payments) and occasionally go by the debit union to get cash for food and other things, such as Mothers Day plants.
Then I immediately wash my hands, peel off clothing, wash my hands and then my body.
My mothers a great cook. Id like to keep her.

(4,613 posts)I get groceries delivered once a week as my local supermarket (Vons) delivers for a $3.95 charge if you select a 4 hour window. Since things have calmed down a bit I could get same day delivery if I choose (I think the delivery fee goes up to $5.95 for that).
Anything else that I might need has been delivered from Costco, Target, Amazon or direct from the manufacturer.

(7,153 posts)For those who don't have big shops each time.
And some services won't even LOOK at you if you are not doing big shops at one time.
Peapod's minimum is $60. If your food bill from ALL sources runs under $200 a month for two people, that means that you have to find some reason to e.g. fill your basement with 20 megapacks of bottled Giant Food water.
