(33,599 posts)you want no one working in the Civil Service. That would include people like Dr. Fauci.
We would not have a functioning Government.
former9thward
(32,046 posts)That would be 2.1 million civilian employees and 1.4 million military employees. On the civilian side their unions might have something to say about that...

(2,227 posts)There are NO valid appointments to ANY judgeships made by an illegitimate president who got into office with the express help of our worst enemy, Vladimir Putin, and his russian posse in the senate. Period.
You think it can't be done? I be the repubs would do EXACTLY that, and be successful at it.
If they can't be impeached, make their life hell to where they resign rather than deal with it. Do the same to every republican senator who was enabler, which is ALL of them.
To "low road" for you? Tough shit.

(3,233 posts)In addition, impeaching every single one of them will essentially bring all the other business of Congress grinding to a halt. I don't think you're gonna get the pony you're expecting if/when Biden gets into office. Best start preparing for that disappointment now.
Polybius
(15,462 posts)That's 67 votes out of 100 Senators. Yeah good luck with that, they are there another 30-50 years and there's nothing anyone can do about it.

(37,161 posts)1) Retaking it by a wide enough margin that impeachments can successfully go through despite the Republicans; or
2) Breaking the hold of conservative ideologues on the Republicans, which would once again permit the existence of Reasonable Republicans willing to join with Democrats to clean the courts of Kremlin Don and Moscow Mitch's contagion.
I'm not sure which is more likely, though the way to bet is "neither."

(4,007 posts)Staff also need to be retired and charged with crimes. Don't forget that they allowed or went along with Trump's demand to transfer illegally monies that Congress allocated solely for the military to the idiotic border wall. Any noe of these monies I understand were for hardware. No, it was to improve housing at our world-wide bases, fix decaying infrastructure at domestic and foreign bases and ports and far more.
They and other high-ranking officials, including all military lawyers at the highest levels that green-lighted the transfer of specifically allocated Congressional funds illegally, need to to charged. All should be immediatley fired and formally charged by our new A.G. with numerous crimes, including lying to Congress!
procon
(15,805 posts)for the position they hold. Trump pushed industry lobbyists, wealthy pals and big time donors into top jobs where they are manifestly inexperienced, uneducated and unprepared to perform the duties required of them.
Biden should cull Trump's hirelings due to their incompetence, that it is, if any of them stick around after Trump is evicted.
Ilsa
(61,695 posts)that are apolitical, like Fauci. The career employees, as long as they didn't pledge allegiance to Herr trump, need to stay and should stay.

(12,395 posts)Trump was too lazy and too dumb to fill all of the necessary departments that kept this country safe and running, so my thought is that long before Biden takes over he will already have vetted a huge amount of people to fill these vacancies. And if they worked under the Trump administration and perhaps the Obama administration before that and were dedicated employees and devoted civil servants, then of course they should stay.

(7,542 posts)I believe we need to deal with the issue of intentional monkey-wrenching of government agencies. We need coherent policy on preventing malfeasance, misfeasance or whatever legal term constitutes willful dereliction of responsibility while in a public office. Watching the robber barons and carpetbaggers descend on the federal government in recent decades has sickened me to the heart.
