FLIPPABLE: Michelle Darbro for IL-HD20

Michelle grew up in the south suburbs and moved to Chicago when she was 18 years old and off to college. She attended the University of Chicago, where she participated in three varsity sports and graduated with a degree in Environmental Studies. After graduation, she found her calling serving the public as a paramedic, and has worked in EMS for over 13 years. She joined the Chicago Fire Department in 2012, and has since become a firefighter as well. Michelle and her wife, Erika, now live in Norwood Park. She enjoys her helping people every day in her line of work, and hopes to continue serving the public as a Representative in Springfield.

Michelle does not come from a political dynasty family. Her father was an economist, who volunteered for the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Both of her grandfathers served in World War II, and she has followed in the footsteps of her Grandpa Darbro, who was a medic in the Army.

Michelle wants to take her educational background, the values she learned from her parents, and the love of being a public servant down to Springfield in order to continue serving her neighbors. She knows firsthand the struggles that middle class families endure, and will work to ease the struggles for all Illinoisan middle class families.
