Do you have some reason to assume that only muslims can read Arabic in a nation that has had Arabic as its official language since the 1300s?

Do you have some reason to assume that translating the film into, say, Coptic would have made it widely readable to non-Muslims in the Arabic world?

Anything is possible, of course. But assuming that a film probably funded by Egyptian Christians could not plausibly be translated into Arabic for their consumption seems to assume a lot.

That doesn't make it the case, but one should not be too eager to assume whatever would please them the most.

One wonders. It sure helped them pull off a bang-up Sept. 11 commemorative event, their best ever.

Did they spot it some time back, then got it translated and then posted it onto YouTube in time for broadcast by a friendly Egyptian Bill OReilly type TV character, right before Sept. 11

Hmmmm....

10. Morris Sadek "promot(ed) the video on his website and on certain TV stations"...

...

Morris Sadek, an Egyptian-born Christian in the United States known for his anti-Islam views, told the AP from Washington that he was promoting the video on his website and on certain TV stations, which he did not identify. Early reports suggested Sadek had made the film, but this no longer appears to be the case.

Both depicted the film as showing how Coptic Christians are oppressed in Egypt, though it goes well beyond that to ridicule Muhammad — a reflection of their contention that Islam as a religion is inherently oppressive.

then maybe we need to examine the conditions that exist. And which, given that the US is the enforcer of world hegemony, we allow to exist.

They are not rioting about the video. They are rioting because their lives are miserable.
