Lockdown Protests May Have Spread Virus Widely
May 18, 2020 at 7:24 am EDT By Taegan Goddard

The Guardian: “Cellphone location data suggests that demonstrators at anti-lockdown protests – some of which have been connected with Covid-19 cases – are often traveling hundreds of miles to events, returning to all parts of their states, and even crossing into neighboring ones.”

“The data raises the prospect that the protests will play a role in spreading the coronavirus epidemic to areas which have, so far, experienced relatively few infections.”

There was news here that Abbott’s government was combining Covid-19 testing for the virus with antibody tests of people who already had the virus to make “testing” numbers look better. Given the governors of Florida and Georgia, I would not trust one bit of data coming from those states.

They may be hiding the numbers. However, I saw disturbing stories about people in NYC partying like crazy with no precautions. I expect Cuomo to be honest if there is a spike there.

open for about a week. Something happened there and it was not no customers. I passed it the day after it reopened, the parking lot was full, now two week later, only ground bugs are there I guess, because I certainly didn't see any cars.

They don't care that much if it's their supporters or our side, any working class person who dies is one more who won't want to collect the social security money the rw is planning on stealing the day after drumpf is confirmed for his 2nd shot of killing the USA off. Besides, they are truly stupid and think that more Dems will die than repugs. I can't wait for karma to prove them very and deadly wrong.

6. "May", "raises the prospect".
Mon May 18, 2020, 09:21 AM
May 2020

These don't = "have".

I'd also argue with "suggests": The data are compatible with claiming that for the protests examined they did travel hundreds of miles, etc., a bit starker than "suggests."

The rest is just saying, "It could happen."

Always remember that "may" implies "might not".

I might go to the store today. I might not go to the store today. Which I choose to say between two equally true statements depends not on truth but on expectations and goals. If I'm pointing out the possibility that I'll be heading to a store and that wasn't known, I choose the former; if I'm pointing out expectations might not be met and I'll be a homebody, I choose the latter.

"Lockdown protests may have spread virus widely" is trying to pretend like it's new news about a possibility. That just services to confirm expectations, which is why some people have taken it as more confirmation than it can be. Since I think a lot of people already had that expectation, what would actually suggest the possibility of novel information would be, "lockdown protests might not have spread virus widely."

Yes, there were "links." I'm linked to all kinds of things I have scant relationship to. When people can start talking causal relationship, then we can start talking science.

Actually, the followers of Jim Jones were rushed to mass suicide in Jonestown without the benefit of a sane alternative. Trump cultists who defy science have the option of hearing the truth but they drink the Cool Aid anyway.

Gore Vidal wrote a great book about a willing world destroyer that anticipated Trump. It's called...
