Obama will win California without breaking a sweat and Dianne Feinstein is cruising to re-election. So I am looking at three state/local elections that are pivotal in their own ways. California Prop 29 will raise taxes on those with the highest incomes and restore funding to public education and other crucial programs. In San Francisco, David Lee is challenging vulnerable incumbent Eric mar for District 1 San Francisco Supervisor. Finally, there is an open seat for the San Francisco Unified School District Board of Education. What LOCAL races are you looking at?

(36,440 posts)Ami Bera (D) appears to be neck and neck with Dan Lungren (R). Redistricting was wicked weird this year and all the congressional critters appearing to be playing musical chairs with the new districts. On the surface, all the new districts looked to be a push, but CA-7 is looking like it could really flip. Lungren deserves to be tossed out!

Inslee's ahead right now, as he should be. But I'm worried it will be a close race.
I hope Washington's vaunted regional disparities will play their expected roles.
They'll vote for McKenna out in Spokanistan, where nobody lives, and we'll vote for Inslee in King and Pierce counties, where everyone lives.

I'm really most interested in the state elections. Because of redistricting all but two of our state legislators are up for election this time and a lot's at stake.
