Can we explore the option of calling the bilious shitgibbon's bluff?

This is in regard to 'Obamagate' and Barr's indication that he has no appetite for that repulsive entree.

I see this as a win-win for Democrats. If he takes the bait and orders investigations into nothing, it provides the opportunity to talk about partisan hacks who lie and obstruct as easily as others breathe. If he says 'nevermind,' we can taunt him mercilessly with accusations that the story was an utter fabrication.

Am I missing something obvious that would negate this idea?

What do you think has changed since 2016 for investigations into nothing to not now be endless fodder for Russian trolls, lazy media, and gullible swing voters?

If Orange Foolius can be baited to overrule Barr and open investigations, the door is opened for turnabout in a few months. I believe he can be baited; he's a buffoon, after all. If he doesn't bite, we can taunt him mercilessly.
