[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]When they do manage to get a semi-correct quote from the Bible, it's almost always from the Old Testament or from one of Paul's chapters. I have yet to hear any of these so-called "Christians" quote what Jesus actually said or emulate what he actually did.

The first set is from the Sermon on the Mount, also known as the Beatitudes. The second is from his Sermon on the Plain. These are found in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke, respectively.

I grew up attending church and Sunday School every Sunday, Vacation Bible School in the Summer and Catechism classes and Luther League some week nights. (I went to a pretty cool church so it's not as bad as it sounds.) Trust me, wingnuts do not like getting into discussions of scripture with me. I do not even recognize the Jesus Christ they claim to worship. He is not in any bible I ever read.

You know, truthfully, thirty or forty years ago, most churches in America were pretty cool. (I know there were LARGE swaths of exceptions to that though.) I attended a fairly mainstream Lutheran Church and people there would have been embarrassed to admit they were Republican. It was considered so antithetical to the teachings of Jesus.
