Well, we've finally come to it--the United States of Jonestown...

...of course he's not taking it. He doesn't care; he's making money off the drug, and expects his "base" to be so ignorant that they'll give it a try themselves. He doesn't care about their lives. He doesn't worry about being brought to account for it--he's already gotten away with treason, for Chrissakes; he feels he's invulnerable. He probably feels this will help him win re-election; maybe if the number of cases goes down, he'll take "credit" for it. He is enough of a sociopath for anything to be possible.
