Too bad mf45 has nothing positive to run on. But that's the reality, absolutely nothing he can point to as a success.

With Obama Hes Going For the Jugular: As Trump Goes After Obama, Some in Trumpworld See a Big Risk
Frustrated with his campaign (he feels hes doing it all alone), Trump has settled on a campaign bank shot: hit Obama to destroy Biden. But theres a problem: Obama cant be softened up.

But Trumps targeting of Obama has been causing consternation among Republicans, who fear he is pursuing a base-incitement strategy when he needs to appeal to crucial suburban voters in must-win battleground states. Going after Obama is a big risk, a former West Wing official said. Obama is seen as trustworthy and reasonable. If you attack him and people dont buy it, then you have a huge swing and a miss in front of the entire country. Another prominent Republican agreed: Trump cannot draw Obama into this. Obama cant be softened up. American people know him and like him.
Trump has been leaning on powerful Republicans to join his war on Obama, sources told me. Last Thursday, Trump tweeted at Senate Judiciary chair Lindsey Graham, saying that Graham needed to call Obama to testify at hearings on Michael Flynns unmasking and the origin of the Russia probe. Graham rejected the request. Trump thinks Lindsey isnt doing anything on Flynn, a former White House official said. According to the former official, Trump recently asked prominent allies to tweet negative things about Graham, and he has been complaining that Graham is a hanger-on. Trump has said, Since [John] McCain died, Lindsey follows me around and shows up to play golf and I dont even invite him, according to the source briefed on the conversation.
Trumps Obama preoccupation is likely to grow harder to let go of. Obama is breaking his postpresidential silence and goading Trump. On a private call with Democrats earlier this month, Obama deemed Trumps COVID-19 response a chaotic disaster. During a virtual graduation ceremony last weekend, Obama told students: This pandemic has fully, finally torn back the curtain on the idea that so many of the folks in charge know what theyre doing. NBC News reported that Trump wont invite Obama to the White House for the 44th presidents official portrait unveiling. Trump hates Obama, a former Trump adviser told me. He used to go around calling Obama a child. As a prominent Republican told me, With Obama hes going for the jugular. I wouldnt be surprised if he puts out the really dirty stuff.

(15,149 posts)And he is asking the Senate for broad subpoena powers to pursue Obama Administration individuals. I hope they all say NO and ignore the subpoenas. Take it all to the courts. Fight it like Ass Face fights it. Draw it out.
If they end up in court over an ignored subpoena, you just point to the White House and say you get the same treatment.

(47,586 posts)what happened to Jeff Sessions. For Trump, loyalty is a one way street and he'll turn on anyone for any reason or no reason at all. Its just a matter of time.

(15,948 posts)The house and senate are going to have to figure another way. Im certainly not saying this due to Lindsey, but it have been destroyed by trump.

(32,626 posts)when you own the Justice Department. Do you think Barr would provide a jail cell, and press charges?

(15,149 posts)Wait. Did I just say that?
This began before Barr was in office. Sessions is a (insert scathing words here) - but I think he did have a tiny bit of conscience and awareness of the LAW.

(7,530 posts)So which way do they want it? "It's okay when the President does it" or "Of course you can investigate and prosecute former Presidents"?
I hope that MF'er is so screwed when he gets de-elected. And I hope that other MF'er McConnell is the ammunition they fire out of the cannon at him.

(16,937 posts)that is even more ironic because it was a "golf outing" when Lindsey seemed to come back to the club house a "different man."
Remember, it was Lindsey that said that IQ45 was not fit to be president, but then, miracle of miracles, one "round of golf" later, Lindsey is fighting for his spot in line behind IQ45 to plant the "kiss of the day."
DISCLAIMER: Please understand, I've tried to "tone this down." It is SO easy to think the entire series of events evolves around somebody having "pictures" of "somebody" doing "something" to "somebody" else - in ways that would be typical in "crime syndicate" films or "adult-film" sites.
"Some people are saying" - but not me!

(4,037 posts)Personally, China may be an issue, but certainly not as significant as they are trying to make it out to be. We all know very well what the issues are, and they center around arrogance, ineptitude, childlike behavior, irrational diplomacy, cronyism, nepotism, corruption, simple stupidity, overreach of power, and on and on.
I hope they keep the ill-conceived commercials coming because in my opinion, it sounds very much like what you stated - a campaign originated by the Fool in Chief because HE thinks its important, whereas most Americans dont give it top priority.
Keep up the good work, Trump, while we bury your sorry ass in votes.

(11,744 posts)I think that Hillary Clinton is one of the most accomplished politicians to run for office in the modern period. She had a wide array of experience and skill. She was very intelligent, and a good person. She also had close to 40 years of hatred and false stories accumulated against her to the point that Trump and the GOP were able to leverage it and cast her as not being trustworthy.
Biden has had his share of rough moments, but the reality is that most of the people who have worked for him, with him, and around him really like him and respect him. Being a White man, does not hurt either, as I think a lot of the hatred toward Hillary was born of misogyny. Biden is popular with most Democrats. He is a known quantity (warts & all). He is stable. He has been around a long time. He has shown the ability to lead. He has shown the humility to follow. He has been pretty scandal free in the scheme of things. Notwithstanding the dubious sexual assault allegation that is currently floundering, the made up Hunter Biden stuff, or the plagiarism allegation when he was in school like a hundred years ago, Biden has been pretty clean. He doesn't seem to have a bunch of stocks, or business interests that he has been profiting from like Trump or other politicians. The worst you can say about Biden is that he is gaffe prone, that he was a little cozy with Finance (Delaware has a huge credit and finance industry so, what are you going to do?), and that he voted for some regrettable policies (Crime Bills in the 1990's ) that MANY other people also voted for.
Trump really has nowhere to attack from, except for his usual lies and shamelessness. Like the article said however, none of those are sticking because the public has not been conditioned to hate Joe Biden the way that they were to hate Hillary Clinton. Plus, most people really do like President Obama and Joe's friendship with Obama and their working relationship was honest and genuine so if President Obama respects Joe, you kinda gotta respect Joe even if he wasn't your first choice in candidates.
Trump is worried. We had President Obama for 8 years and hardly a scandal, though the GOP was looking and there were more than a few fake scandals attempted.
Think of it. The only strategy Trump has is to attack one of the most trusted and respected politicians of the last 50 years. He can't even go directly after his opponent because there is little there to go on.
