This pretty much sums up the republican party. Actively or passively, each day they move us closer to the type of country we used to pity.

(10,749 posts)Many have wondered why there has not been any pushback from Republicans in Congress. Where is their morality, integrity, decency? Are they that fearful of Trump? Etc., etc.
I have concluded that this is the wrong perspective.
They may very well be cult followers, but there were initially a cult without a leader. What we have now is what they've wanted all their lives. The Grover Norquist approach to government. The Ronald Reagan "government is the problem" approach to life. They have always wanted not less government, but essentially no government. No accountability. No responsibility. But all the power and the means to enrich themselves. But until Trump it was disjointed. Even Moscow Mitch couldn't pull them in under one umbrella of treason and sedition and corruption. Trump was the leader they were looking for. Well, maybe not so much a leader but a titular head, a useful idiot that has enabled them to achieve their decades-long goal of corruption and self-interest. They are not fearful of trump. They are grateful for him.

(21,795 posts)There is a reason Putin and the Russians did not try to co-opt the Democratic Party.
They know the Republicans are "Open For Business".

(36,747 posts)With or without Dump, they lose.
They are either going to lose their offices or going to hang from lamp poles.
For those on the fence about Dump, your time to choose is fast coming to close.
