Throughout Trumps mistake filled life someone , something, has come to his rescue whenever he made a big mistake, which happened all the time.
His father bailed him out time and time again.
For decades, lawyers came to Trumps rescue, correcting, fixing, perhaps hundreds of mistakes.
Banks rescued him time and time again by giving him loans.
After Trump became president, the Republicans in congress protected him, rescued him from scores of foolish mistakes he made.
Trump made another catastrophic mistake when dealing with the pandemic. No one, nothing is coming to rescue him. You can tell he is completely lost, confused by this. This may be one of the most terrifying moments of his life. He is looking for doctors, a drug maker to come up with a treatment, a vaccine. He expects the Governors , the people will ignore the danger and go back to work to save the economy. I believe he is saying to himself, why is no one helping me?
The mistake Trump made when dealing with the pandemic was not unique for Trump, it was typical.
Trump is not stupid in the strictest terms. It is his mental illness that drives him to make foolish mistakes, constantly. Because he has been enabled, protected, his entire life, Trump does not see mistakes as normal people do. He sees mistakes as someone elses fault or as something that someone else will fix for him. This is why he believes he is smarter than everyone. This has turned Trump into a fool, a clown.
Trump may be the most enabled fool in the history of our country. What we are watching now is, a confused fool waiting, searching, for someone, something, to rescue him and no one is coming.

(82,849 posts)This time around, there's nobody to sue (not that he won't threaten baseless lawsuits against all and sundry), and walking away from this bad deal is an admission of ultimate defeat. He's stuck, but we're fucked.

(56,828 posts)he will scream and whine that it was rigged and it was stolen and sue every state and every governor that voted for Biden.
He will threaten states and electors to flip their votes as well.
he will blackmail the country as well - keep me as president or I will do X, Y or Z,

(9,426 posts)lose - BIGLY - and will not be able to cover for him anymore. Some of them face legal challenges of their own. Pomous Pompeo might have to repay the treasury for all those lavish dinners he and Mrs. Pompous held at the State Dept. Billy "Low" Bar could be dis-barred with any luck. Moscow Mitch surely will lose his reigning position in the Senate? Little Lindsey has lost one of his biggest donors because of tRump adoration. He could lose his position. Everything hinges on people getting to vote, and the votes not being tampered with. We need security to cover all ballots, to make sure the gop does not get away with fraud this time. God help us otherwise.

While essentially worthless, past, present and future, he found out that the banks who had fallen over themselves to lend him billions could themselves risk failure if they let the loans go through bankruptcy-- not enough equity to cover the paperwork and certainly not enough to cover their own obligations.
So, they let him walk, and he has not forgotten this.
A lifetime of "Get out of jail/debt cards".
No such luck this time, Donald. This time you're fucked.

(56,828 posts)the number who "strongly approve" of Trump has been trending down - it was high 30s for most of the past 3 years and the "approve" numbers fluctuated to give him another 5-7%, but "strongly approve" has slowly gone down over the past 2 months to around 30/31%. The number who merely "approve" has gone up to close to 10% now as well.
Strongly disapprove is closing in on 50%

(2,863 posts)I think his base is way small. So many people sat on their hands in 2016. I think it just seems like he has a bigger base because they're always out there protesting with their guns & MAGA hats. I wish I could remember where I read that so I could provide a link, but I don't have it.

(10,053 posts)They and Putin helped install Trump, but evidently he fooled them into believing that he could handle the job. Obviously he cant. I wonder how many Republican Senators are also beholden to Russia in some way. Theyre remarkably silent about anything Trump does. Grassley made a few rumbles out his firing IGs, but nothing will come of it. Even Pompeos misappropriation of taxpayer funds elicited silence. They just dont care what happens to this country.
Even Bill Barr cant protect Trump from making really stupid comments about bleach, hydroxychloroquine, and yesterday some asinine comment about insulin and whether he should take it. Is Trump so hopped up on drugs most of the time that he doesnt even know what he is saying?

(10,252 posts)His sister has told us that as a child, he was called "Dimwit." I suspect that he had reading difficulty and ADHD, because his parents couldn't control or discipline him, and so sent him to a military boarding school. How he managed to get a college degree is a mystery. Maybe he cheated in various ways.
But Trump is definitely stupid in the Buddhist sense, which is about a mind filled with delusions and the inability to see things as they really exist. Starting with his ego-self, which he considers to be a real self-existent thing. Everyday in every way, Trump displays his stupidity. I hope it is sinking in to Americans that character, integrity, honor, virtue, empathy, and discriminating wisdom are values that each of us must strive to acquire and uphold -- but most especially our POTUS.

(9,135 posts)Too many stories in the news regarding whites trying or succeeding in killing blacks. And zero Trumpubs lift a finger to fix our broken country because this is what they brought on since the civil rights Act of 1964.

(10,885 posts)"he alone can['t] fix it." He's in over his head, and he knows it. That's why he's being so "generous" in handing COVID off to the governors. He can't handle being blamed for the mistakes, so he passes the problem down and wipes his hands of it.
That's his pattern. When things get too hot or too tough for him, he turns and runs. Ohhhh, he makes the grand gestures <I'll sue!>, but turns tail and never follows through.

(1,096 posts)He's counting on election fraud, media lies and misinformation, dirty tricks and all things nefarious to get him over the finish line. Voter purges will be a primary tactic. Lies and dirty tricks will be/are rampant. I think that Karl Rove has become involved in his campaign. I don't remember where I saw that, though. And then there's the electoral college.
Yeah, I think he's pretty sure he can just steal the presidency.
BComplex
(8,060 posts)and they are getting their little mittens all over the 2020 election, even as we speak. So the russians are still bailing him out, and it's working pretty well.
Now they've got AA pundits threatening the democratic party to "do them a favor, though", and make sure Biden appoints an African American woman for VP if the party wants them to show up for the election. That has been started and stoked by russia. If you divide the democratic party from the African Americans, it's the same thing Fox "news" has been doing to the democrats and republicans for decades. It's going to tear this country further apart.
If that doesn't set up trump for a better election, nothing does.

(38,439 posts)..He lies about everything, anything, and any time. A problem with that is that when you raise children, you teach them not to lie to their closest people. (their parents, and very close friends)..We even teach them about what a lie is and is not. Trump breaks all the rules all the time. He is a repulsive liar.
... He will lose every state in the electoral college. Why? His greatest stupidest lie will be played over and over and over. "It will be gone and we only have eleven cases." (or words to that effect)
