So, It Turns Out My Cousin Was One Of Those Idiots Partying At The Lake Of The Ozarks

She had posted a picture on FB Friday of herself alone on her dock. Apparently she didn't spend much of the weekend alone (or sober) though.

After the all the news reports came out with all those damning pictures, her older sister made a long post about how thoughtless & careless those people were on FB. My cousin tried to defend herself and then tried to justify being there, but her sister and a couple of my sisters weren't having any of it. She finally agreed to "self isolate", which who knows if she will or not. But she was definitely shamed into staying away from my aunt for at least two weeks.

As they no doubt lick doorknobs, urinals, and the odd anachronistic payphone.

No specific disrespect to the OP's cousin; we all have friends or relatives or coworkers who are every bit as, um, misguided.

She was keeping quiet at work until someone did a screenshot of a picture of her on Facebook. She has been forced to self isolate since we work amongst medically fragile communities.

At the very least she should be written up for concealing possible exposure if you serve an at risk community.

Aren't the ones who are screaming about wanting to go back to work. They want to go get drunk and party. I get the boredom, but shit, a weekend of partying is not worth two weeks of quarantine afterward during this thing.

I understand wanting to feel normal, even for a few days over a holiday. For some people, it means going to a tourist trap and getting drunk, stupid, and sunburned in the middle of a crowd.

However, yes, she needs to stay away from family members over 50 for at least the next two weeks. If you can convince her of that much, maybe the harm will be lessened.

I'm sure it's not the last time she does something stupid just to be normal again.
