kind of club. I guess they're just grabbing what they have handy. It doesn't seem wise to fight off looters during a riot, though, unless you don't have any insurance. Seems like the best thing to do would be to get the hell out.

Might be a replica of a Japanese wakazashi, or some modern variant sold as a "tactical" or "survival" knife.

It's not just about Trump - this started forming back under Bush 43.

People are more aware now of the deception that led them to the mess in the ME created by the 2003 invasion of Iraq. That gave birth to endless wars, and people are getting tired of it almost 2 decades later, as more die, and many more return damaged - physically and emotionally.

Mass shootings in the USA are almost non-news nowadays - we're sad, disgusted and so on, but not too many are surprised . . .

I'm no big fan of Trump, and Hillary sort of lost any appeal to me as a Leader after seeing her gleeful rendition of Qaddafi's assassination.

US politics are toxic, and if whatever process can put someone like Trump, and Bush 43 as Commander In Chief of the most powerful military in the World -

something is very wrong.

The People don't know what it is, but they know SOMETHING is wrong, and they are getting pissed.

There is no excuse for looting and burning things down. Great way to lose the narrative.

to crack down hard. This looting feeds a Trumpian narrative and destroys all the goodwill for the protests. What a clusterfuck!

They did it on both sides of the fence in 2016 and that resulted in at least one riot (I think in Texas)......

All these worldwide “spontaneous” eruptions of nationalism, the demonization of immigrants, and “internal” threats within democratic governments — all have the fingerprints of Russia upon them.

and in fact, it would not shock me to learn some of them encourage their Russian friends to do it. They do have the connections.

I'm curious if any independent groups are monitoring social media for Russian bots and trolls.

New Evidence Shows How Russia’s Election Interference Has Gotten More Brazen
March 5, 2020
<snip>
...Social media accounts linked to the Internet Research Agency (IRA), the Kremlin-linked company behind an influence campaign that targeted the 2016 elections, have indeed already begun their digital campaign to interfere in the 2020 presidential election. And they are getting even more brazen in tactics, as a sample of new posts shows.

There are most probably more entities keeping an eye on Russia, but it’s difficult to put things on any correcting course given the current administration.
