Down South, because of the humidty, there is almost always a slightly blurry effect when you look at objects in the distance.

There has been quite a bit of haze this past summer, due to the fires in the west, but the rain on Tuesday seemed to clear the air.

It is beautiful there in late summer/early fall, although it gets chilly at night even in mid-August.

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aspen

All of the aspens typically grow in large clonal colonies, derived from a single seedling, and spread by means of root suckers; new stems in the colony may appear at up to 30–40 m (98–130 ft) from the parent tree. Each individual tree can live for 40–150 years above ground, but the root system of the colony is long-lived. In some cases, this is for thousands of years, sending up new trunks as the older trunks die off above ground.

What I wouldn't give for a cool crisp morning...that's ok, I'll just live vicariously through these landscapes. Also, thanks for the info re: the AU (aspen underground)

I can't stop myself from hearing his pathetic, unfeeling, off-key voice every time I think of that song. I guess it'll take awhile.

How can Republicans sing of "purple mountain's majesty" while hating the Earth and loving mountain top removal?
