That aside I do not think it was done with the intent to be rude and disrespectful to the marine (rare for Trump given how often he is disrespectful to people) rather I suspect he is afraid of getting that virus and given his age and health I would be afraid to.

Donald Trump was selected to be the Grand Marshal of the Steuben Day Parade in New York City in 2011. (He finally admitted his German heritage when he could get something out of it.)

Before the Parade, there was a religious benediction at St. Patrick's Cathedral, followed by an informal breakfast.

My friend attended all events and was able to meet a few dignitaries such as Henry Kissinger. Oh yeah, and Trump. They were on the receiving line for people to meet and greet.

She's a friendly and polite woman and she was going to be able to be introduced to these people. Those in attendance were warned not to shake Trump's hand on line as he was a germaphobe. Well, she forgot and extended her hand to Trump when she reached him. Standing next to Trump was Melania, who screamed at my friend, "You were told NOT TO SHAKE HIS HAND!"

My friend was mortified by this uncouth behavior; even Trump looked taken aback. He smiled a little and told my friend, "Well, you look pretty well-groomed. I guess I could make an exception." And he extended his hand.
