Don't underestimate the USA's ability to elect a complete idiot or crook to the White House....

Because they have done it before
GWBush was an idiot and everybody knew it.
Richard Nixon was a crooked paranoid freak and everyone knew it.
But they became President anyway.
There's a lot of crowing and funny cartoons about Mitt being toast on DU right now
We don't have this in the bag yet.
The American people can still be fooled by Mitt and his crowd so we need to stay focused, continue to work hard and fight until the fat lady sings.
Then I'll make my Mitt Toast graphic.

"There's a sucker born every minute". (Barnum was famous for using the ignorance of his viewers to his financial advantage). He opened Barnum's Museum, a collection full of oddities, misshapen animals, etc. in the 5 Points Section of New York to huge crowds. However, the customers kept staying in the museum, wouldn't leave (which meant more paying customers couldn't come in). He solved this by putting up a sign with an arrow pointing out the door which read "THIS WAY TO THE EGRESS". The all ran out looking to see the remarkable new bird Barnum had on exhibit. Kind of like today's Rethuglicans.

Mitt and the Repukes have totally alienated the majority of half the population of the country: WOMEN. Then there are Seniors, Minorities, Non-Christians, Middle Class, Poor, Public Service Workers. WHO haven't they alienated? Rich, White, Christan Men? They cannot win with just that demographic. THIS is the difference with Bush and Nixon.

Medicare is the nail in the coffin for them. The Romney campaign miscalculated this and wish they could back track but it's too late.

Every poll no matter which side of the aisle they come from.

Do not want Medicare changed in this country.

Some people won't volunteer or will give less time
Less calls get made
less doors get knocked upon
less cash is donated
turnout and outcomes can be affected down the whole ticket.
That's what it means.

com·pla·cent/kəmˈplāsənt/
Adjective:
Showing smug or uncritical satisfaction with oneself or one's achievements.
Synonyms:
self-satisfied - smug - pleased - contented - satisfied

Yeah, I get it. We are supposed to be CONCERNED!

But what do CONCERNED people do other than point out the other sides fuck ups, donate what they can to Obama, volunteer when they can and vote? Cause hand wringing and teeth gnashing are fairly pointless wastes of time.

registration and turnout is dependent upon people who DON'T live and breathe this political shit every day like we do.
They can be easily affected by the "conventional wisdom"
Vigilance is our watch word.
Your post is the exact attitude we have to watch out for.
"Oh you don;'t think people will turnout? You Handwringer and toothgnasher."
That attitude is a political killer and you posted it twice because you first comment to me wasn't enough?
That's the problem.
Your belief that everyone is going to turn out and vote the way you think.
Dukakis lost in 88 because of that attitude and he had a 16 point lead at this date in the race.
