Steve Schmidt: Watching Trump preen in front of St. John's, moments after he threatened to deploy

the American military against the American people, with a bible held above his head, I remembered this quote, “when facism comes to America it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross”

His cowardice to defend, yes defend, our constitution abetted by his "good people" make me sick.

His needy, self-pity are endless!

I have known some very smart people. A Rhodes scholar heading a major think tank. A person who had record law school grades by a gap above the previous record, who clerked at the Supreme Court, heads of national academic associations. But I never met anyone as skilled as Schmidt at soaring, perfect political rhetoric.

You can jump all over him and others after this fight is over for their sins of the past. Right now we need every voice we can get no matter where it comes from. I would even welcome demons from hell if they could help us defeat the orange menace.

He always looked stoned to me whenever he's pulled one of these bizarre stunts for the camera. His speech is odd and his syntax is from another planet. It's like a person trying to imitate someone in authority using a comic book version as a guide. He's all stylized hype with lots of anger without the gravitas. He reminds me of those rockers who can only play endless trills and seem to think that's what electric guitar should always sound like: shrill and loud and nervous.

21. I am outraged': Bishop overseeing church responds to Trump photo-op
Mon Jun 1, 2020, 10:44 PM
Jun 2020

(CNN) Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington said Monday evening that she is "outraged" after President Donald Trump visited her church without advance notice to share "a message antithetical to the teachings of Jesus."

Her pointed comments came after the President walked from the White House to St. John's Episcopal Church, a house of worship used by American presidents for more than a century. Peaceful protesters just outside the White House gates were dispersed with tear gas, flash grenades and rubber bullets. It was all, apparently, so Trump could visit the church.

"I am outraged. The President did not pray when he came to St. John's, nor as you just articulated, did he acknowledge the agony of our country right now," Budde told CNN's Anderson Cooper on "AC360.

He didn't like how puny and not-brave it made him look. The mirror can be a harsh judge, eh Donny?

...when CNN’s Kaitlan Collins told Anderson Cooper on air of the reported reason behind this move, the host was shocked and appalled.

“Sources are telling my colleague Kevin Liptak that, in part, the reason the president made this trip outside the gates of the White House — a really rare trip, where you do not often see the president walk out of the front door of the White House, walk across Lafayette Square, to St. John’s — was driven, in part, that he was upset by coverage of the fact that he had been rushed to the underground bunker on Friday night during the protests that you saw breaking out here, in front of the White House,” she said.

“Oh my God!” said Cooper, rolling his eyes. “Wow! We are in trouble. This country is being led by a man … he was taken to a bunker, and you know, he’s hiding in a bunker, and he’s embarrassed that people know that. So what does he have to do? He has to sic police on peaceful protesters so he can make a big show of being, you know, the little big man, walking to a closed down church. And then, you know, he always talks about the world laughing — that the world is laughing at the governors right now. They’re not laughing at the governors, they’re standing in horror at what is happening. The only people that the world is laugh at is the president of the United States.” -Anderson Cooper on CNN-
