It could have been any Book with a Black cover. Plus notice it's Bookmarkers are on the bottom. Who bookmarks any book or The Bible especially on the bottom?

They attach at the top. They're place markers. They are laid on the page from top to bottom and ioften stick out at the bottom.

At least all the ones I've seen do. Used to have a nice translation collection. And worked for a church.

Might could be a prayer book. I'm not Catholic-lite. "My" church didn't have prayer books; the only church I've attended since the very early '90s had siddurim, but they didn't have placeholders.
