I can see lots of friendly fire deaths. Hope that will make everyone think about it.

(38,187 posts)That is why last night was particularly hard. When Trump's speech was over, my entire neighborhood erupted into a giant party, complete with gunshots, firecrackers, the works. It was not protests. It was because they were celebrating what Trump gave them license to do. I know this neighborhood, now. I didn't know when I move into it. The precinct my neighborhood is in votes about 75 to 80 percent Republican and the majority have Trump signs up. Actually, I have never seen but one yard in this neighborhood with a sign for a Democrat. Mine.
I wish I wasn't poor. I would move to be around people who think more like I do instead of like the majority of my neighbors.
And I agree that I think we are having a civil war, or at least the beginnings of one now. If it doesn't turn into a full fledged civil war this time, I still think that reality is edging closer and closer. The gasoline on the fire is coming from this current group of hard line extremist Republicans. People talk about Trump, and rightfully so, because he is the WORST at throwing fuel on the fire with his mouth, but the rest are throwing fuel on the fire by actions. Actions end up speaking louder than words in the long run. Trump is the head of the monster. The real monsters are the many many more extremist Republicans throwing fuel on the fire through legislative actions and more harshly, through executive branch actions.
And I'm out here all alone. Most of my friends have moved. I am in enemy territory, in reality.

Other variables include education and exposure to multi cultures. Many others I'm sure.
I doubt a civil war. Lots of extremes, but a huge middle that won't pick either side.

A moth ago there were about 100 to 150 with a few armed protesters in Lansing Mi. and another 100 cars honking horns. Made the national news that made it look bad.
This week, a couple of thousand March 5 miles from E. Lansing to the capital steps, supporting BLM and such. Not even a mention on the national news.
Reality?
