We are the witnesses to these days and as such

we probably need to watch more than talk. The story doesn’t end at sundown. Or in a week or a month. It didn’t start last weekend either. I can’t help but think we’re in karmic times because as a nation our original sin was slavery and its after effects will continue until we address its legacy. The killing of George Floyd was a direct result of slavery and our failure to address the aftermath. Individually we may not be responsible for what happened a couple of hundred years ago, but we’re definitely accountable for what happens now.

trump, karma? Could very well be. There's much blood on the country's hands, internationally in history as well as to African Americans and Native Americans.

doesn’t mean we aren’t responsible for continuing the racism now. Especially the built in racism of our government and institutions. We can do something about that now.

Or if he had chosen an abolitionist Vice President. Forty acres and a mule might have become a reality. Reconstruction might have gotten a more solid start. And perhaps....

I think our original sin, however, was the massacre of millions of Native Americans. It won't be fun when that karma comes back to bite....

look at the truth. They’re the first generation in a long time who have no continuity between their past and their future. I think their actions this week, the racial brotherhood they’re showing us means they’re ready to create a future that isn’t just a continuation of the past. I hope so.

I saw a video of a show that John Leguizamo made where he talked of the Native American Holocaust, which included all native Americans in the Americas. It counts in the tens, if not thousands of millions who were murdered and who’s descendants are still suffering today. Ignoring it does not make it’s legacy of misery go away.
