Judge gives control of 'Tiger King' Joe Exotic's zoo to Carole Baskin

Judge gives control of Joe Exotic’s zoo to Carole Baskin

WYNNEWOOD, Okla. (AP) — A federal judge in Oklahoma has awarded ownership of the zoo made famous in Netflix’s “Tiger King” docuseries to Joe Exotic’s chief rival.

In a ruling Monday, U.S. District Judge Scott Palk granted control of the Oklahoma zoo that was previously run by Joseph Maldonado-Passage — also known as Joe Exotic — to Big Cat Rescue Corp.

The Florida group was founded by Carole Baskin, who also featured prominently in the hit Netflix series. Maldonado-Passage is currently serving a 22-year federal prison term for killing five tigers and plotting to have Baskin killed.

Baskin previously sued Maldonado-Passage for trademark and copyright infringements and won a $1 million civil judgment against him. Palk’s judgment Monday found that ownership of the zoo was fraudulently transferred to Maldonado-Passage’s mother in an attempt to avoid paying the judgment.

The decision said the zoo animals must be removed from the property within 120 days but it does not detail what should happen to them.

I did see this which tells me all I need to know about it.

From what I understand the documentary is misleading especially when it comes to Carole Baskin who actually follows regulations unlike Joe Exotic.

4. It's actually a very good documentary

The maker stumbled onto it filming something else. It’s very well done especially the first 4 of 6 parts.

And don't recall one point where it promoted anything about Baskin not following regulations.

9. The theory that she was involved in her husband's disappearance

I said it was a misleading portrayal of her.

LIES IN NETFLIX “TIGER KING” REGARDING DISAPPEARANCE OF DON LEWIS AND OTHER MISINFORMATION ABOUT BIG CAT RESCUE
When the directors of the Netflix documentary Tiger King came to us five years ago they said they wanted to make the big cat version of Blackfish (the documentary that exposed abuse at SeaWorld) that would expose the misery caused by the rampant breeding of big cat cubs for cub petting exploitation and the awful life the cats lead in roadside zoos and back yards if they survive.

There are not words for how disappointing it is to see that the series not only does not do any of that, but has had the sole goal of being as salacious and sensational as possible to draw viewers. As part of that, it has a segment devoted to suggesting, with lies and innuendos from people who are not credible, that I had a role in the disappearance of my husband Don in 1997. The series presents this without any regard for the truth or in most cases even giving me an opportunity before publication to rebut the absurd claims. They did not care about truth. The unsavory lies are better for getting viewers.

There is no short, simple way to refute so many lies. If you do want to know the truth, it requires understanding the history of events in the years before my husband’s disappearance and the roles and behaviors of the people interviewed in the series, which I have tried to do as concisely as I can below but still requires a few pages.

WAS JOE EXOTIC “SET UP?”
The best answer to this question comes from a juror quoted in Huffington Post:

“Don’t believe everything you see because there was so much more to it than what they’re showing you,” [in Tiger King] the juror, identified only as Kristin, told Nancy Grace of Fox Nation.

10. You had mentioned regulations...

Not her missing and presumed dead ex.

With respect to her ex, the documentary covered both. Those who believe she killed him and those who don't. Both sides were presented. Including directly from Baskin.

Your link goes to Baskin herself.

11. I mentioned regulations because it was unfair the way they portrayed her

considering she actually follows regulations unlike Joe Exotic. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

13. I just wouldn't believe everything you see in that documentary

The lawyer had to do outside research to give a legal review of Tiger King because they left out so much information.

14. The documentary itself is laced with statements that you shouldn't believe what you see.

Every player in it says that. It's really most unflattering to Joe. That includes his attacks on Baskin that were repeatedly outlined as outrageous at points. Of course some points of her being involved in the killing of her missing ex were highlighted, by numerous people other than Joe. They all seem to be a credible bunch.

I found it to be entertainment with no real world value. Kind of an anti-documentary.

Not that I have much empathy for any of them.

BTW I don’t think her husband is dead.

5. I think all the animals were taken to Jeff Lowe's new zoo which is opening soon.

I think the "zoo" that Carole Baskin is getting ownership of is just empty buildings and stuff at this point.
