25. President Trump 'comparing himself to a mass murderer' in 'sick' video has comic book artist feeling

‘violated’

https://www.marketwatch.com/story/avengers-artist-feels-violated-by-sick-video-of-president-trump-comparing-himself-to-a-mass-murderer-2019-12-11

Shortly after House Democrats introduced articles of impeachment this week, the Trump campaign tweeted this video in which “Avengers” bad guy Thanos is replaced by the president, who delivers the famous line, “I am inevitable”:

In the clip, that snap of the fingers causes House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other Democratic leaders to disappear into dust, like the victims of Thanos. Jim Starlin, the comic book artist who introduced the supervillain in 1973, didn’t appreciate his creation being used in that way.

“After my initial feeling of being violated, seeing that pompous fool using my creation to stroke his infantile ego, it finally struck me that the leader of my country and the free world actually enjoys comparing himself to a mass murderer,” he said. “How sick is that? These are sad and strange times ... Fortunately, all things, even national nightmares, eventually come to an end.”

I don’t remember where I read it but I seem to recall reading during the civil rights struggles in many places, soldiers were given guns but no ammunition. I can not cite it, but I do remember seeing it.

After talking to my wife ( we read a lot of the same books) she reminded me that ammunition was not allowed to be carried in your weapon but it was on their person. We were reading some books on the civil rights movement around the 50th of the Selma March. Congressman Lewis book Walking with the Wind was one of the books we read that summer.

41. from the washington post
Fri Jun 5, 2020, 08:01 PM
Jun 2020

Initially, a small group of guardsmen deployed in the city had been carrying guns while standing outside monuments, but the bulk of the forces, such as those working with federal park police at Lafayette Square in front of the White House, didn’t carry firearms out of caution. Now, all of the roughly 5,000 guardsmen deployed to Washington from the District of Columbia and 11 states have been told not to use weapons or ammunition.

At a news conference Friday, Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy said that some guardsmen in the District had been carrying arms on Monday, but he noted that they did not have magazines of ammunition in their firearms. Beginning Tuesday, the Trump administration de-escalated further, he said, by removing firearms from the equation altogether.

It looks like there might be a sheath on the bayonet. Heck I didn't know they even made bayonets anymore. Maybe they are being issued old old guns.

I remember Obama's debate with Romney: "We don't need horses and bayonets"....

I mean, they are a scary sight.
It's a jerk move, but I can see someone wanting to "dominate" even if there's no intention to use.
Of course, it's all fun & games until one panicked trooper runs someone through.
