(10,952 posts)even had libraries and the overwhelming bulk of the schools were located in the poorer areas of Chicago. Back when I was growing up in Maine there was some kind of system that rebalanced the school funds so that the more well to do communities ended up helping to fund the poor ones to help to level out the playing field of the schools.

(525 posts)High stakes testing is detrimental to low income students. Teachers need to be evaluated on how well they teach, not on how well students perform on tests.
