On May 30, T. Greg Doucette, a criminal defense lawyer from Durham, N.C., tweeted out a compilation of 10 videos he'd seen of police using force against protesters in the wake of the death of George Floyd. He had no idea the degree to which things would snowball from there.
As Doucette's Twitter thread went viral, a flood of videos began pouring in from around cities and towns around the country showing police shoving, kicking, pepper-spraying and otherwise using force against peaceful protesters. (One video Doucette shared involved Times reporter Molly Hennessy-Fiske being hit with rubber bullets while covering a peaceful protest in Minneapolis.) As of Saturday, Doucette's thread has surpassed 350 clips and he finds himself struggling to keep up.
"My phone has been a mess," Doucette, 39, said in an interview with The Times on Friday. "My battery drains quickly. Twitter crashes every few minutes. Ive got close to a thousand direct messages that I havent even had a chance to open yet. Its crazy."
In one week, Doucette's original tweet starting his thread has now been retweeted nearly 80,000 times, while his follower count has grown from around 30,000 to nearly 100,000. A separate thread he posted on potential concrete steps to address systemic racism in policing has been retweeted more than 3,000 times.

(24,370 posts)And once again mention he is running for office as a Republican.
So I want to know if you think the fact that he is a Republican is really relevant to the compilation he has put together on Twitter?
I couldn't give a rats ass WHO OR WHAT he was running for , the fact is, the videos speak for themselves.
So I am really very curious why you felt it necessary, on two separate threads that point members toward this compilation, to mention his political affiliation.
Why?

(24,370 posts)Well done. You have succeeded in presenting a level of obfuscation heretofore only seen by White House Press Secretaries.

(61,650 posts)I'm glad to see a Republican step forward and say this is wrong. Their party claims to honor the Constitution. This is a free speech issue, for one thing.

(14,836 posts)I'm wondering what percentage of the 350 videos show POC as the targets. I'm guessing 90%.
