White House almost completely surrounded by more than a mile of fencing

Protesters arriving in the nation’s capital for the ninth consecutive day of demonstrations found the White House encircled by more than a mile of tall metal fencing.

The previous day, work crews had erected enough fencing — reinforced by white concrete barriers — to bar entry to Lafayette Square and to outline half of the Ellipse, the sloping green lawn that abuts the executive residence. But between Friday night and Saturday afternoon — on a day expected to draw tens of thousands to protest in the District — they added enough fencing to block the rest of the Ellipse.

In total, Google Maps analysis suggests, roughly 1.7 miles of fencing now surrounds the White House, forming a gigantic metal cocoon. There are only two portions of the White House perimeter, on the northeast and northwest corners, that do not have additional fencing and concrete barriers.

Although fortifications increased, the federal presence diminished: Compared with previous days, far fewer police or military officers strolled the streets or stood watch inside the park. There were almost no police officers visible anywhere as of the early afternoon.

does Bunker Boy really think that fence would hold? I almost wish a strong wind would come along and tear down enough of it to finally at least point out how stupid his fence and his border wall idea both are.

He is such a stupid wimp. At his core, he is incredibly stupid and a big wimp.

reinforced by concrete? Might take something stronger than a push or a strong wind to bring them down.

Looks like he knows that he will be voted out and is getting ready to refuse to leave.

What a mess. Wire fence and concrete surrounding the WH. Where has my country gone? Toto, where are we?

It most definitely can be done, by nature.

I agree with the rest of your post. It is horrendous and the opposite of what America has always aspired to be. If he refuses to leave, I hope the founders had something I never saw as instructions on how to remove him. If he loses, he's gotta go.

Both can be toppled by a force applied in a concentrated way. First collapse the fence onto the pillar, tear the fence in two, then use several people to push the pillar out of the way.

gaps, and trying to understand why they exist.

In regards to how that fence is set up, what people should do is concentrate a lot of force in one small area, that would allow them to weaken the fence enough to tear openings through it. Generally putting everything about one's safety on a fortress has never been a good idea historically. There is one case where a fortress stood well on high ground with access so difficult that an attacking force would have been 100% killed before coming close to getting into it. It got invaded and taken down. How? The invaders studied it instead of arriving with an invading force, they saw that the fort took in it's supplies from the lowlands, the designers of the fort had never bothered to develop a self-sustaining food supply. So the invaders cut off the food supply and waited.

In Trump's case, his fence is about as useful as breasts are to a bull. What protects him infinitely more is having a society around him where all people feel that their voices are being heard, he just doesn't get that.

of the WH kicking and screaming, it can be done. We will put you in charge.

I can think of more than one fortress in history that was breached and defeated after being thought impregnable. There was Masada in the first century AD, Roman-Jewish wars. Centuries later, the fortress of Bamburgh on raised ground on an island in Northumberland, UK was breached by Anglo-Saxons and later, by Danes. Other seiges have worked on less formidable fortresses and walled cities.

One other thing that protects the orange fascist at the moment is the troop deployment around the fence and inside the WH. They would easily cut down civilians who tried to get through. An armed force would be another matter.

Imagine what European nations are thinking as they see Trump walling himself in. Or, closer to home, Canada. Does he still think that other nations will want to have a meeting with him in the US under current conditions? If they want to stabilize the world and normalize relations with the US, they should use sanctions on us the way we do with out of control leaders.

There is so much speculation about his mental health. Perhaps he is in the insane late stages of syphilis

Might have been from CNN, I can't remember. Anyway, she said when you're in the white house you could always hear crowds in the Park - but not now, because no one is in the Park. She said there was some kind of music last night, but she could barely hear it - just the bass. She also said that you can't even see the crowd from the white house now, either.

So apparently, the Leaning Tower of Bullshit had the fence put up so he couldn't hear anything or see the crowds.

that would force the military to protect it. There's no doubt who would win and who would die -- we have the best trained and equipped military on the planet.

Now, hundreds of thousands of peaceful but implacable citizens surrounding the WH, if it came to that, yes. Hopefully, this ugly little fence would be more useful to us in symbolizing the WH under siege than to those inside. While national leaders handled the actual legal and diplomatic work of extracting Trump and his criminal cabal. Again, only if it came to it.
