.....Yes, one positive result might be...(don't know, it is the future...) that there will be a complete and total discussion about the Constitution and the powers given to the President of the United States by the Constitution of the United States of America. Trump will argue he inherently has that power, while the rest of us and many republicans will argue he doesn't..As the media brings forth information about what Trump did and said, I think that it will be clear to all, that Trump did try to overstep the authority that the Constitution allows him.
....That discussion has already started as seen in some threads up now and in the last few days. I believe there was one from the Wall Street Journal that strongly criticized Trump, but that one is just the beginning. As the election gets closer, more information will be exposed that will prove Trump was trying take power that he does not legally have. We could be surprised by the number of sources that will agree and support this view of Trump. If there is a very strong majority of the media of all sources & backgrounds supporting this idea..then that will be the end of Trump. Biden will clearly discuss this at length and he could win in a landslide and the Constitution and democracy could be saved. This could happen, or maybe not. It is the future. We can hope. Can't we?

(16,829 posts)It really needs to be better defined and limited, for our country's sake.

(38,436 posts)But Trump has used that power for his own self aggrandizement. It is all about Trump and not the United States. Trump doesn't care about the United States of America.
...You are correct, the power of the presidency needs to be defined and clarified for all to see. Limiting the power is up to Congress to pass laws, and the courts to interpret the laws that exist. But I do think that will happen thanks to Donald Trump.

(672 posts)I don't think that they thought we would ever have a president like trump and that the Senate would allow him to do whatever he wanted.
