Trump is expecting to lose bigly in November. Really all the Repubes are starting to realize this and the signs are everywhere, though out of pride or fear they won't stand up to Trump and speak out against him and his actions.
So you get what we have here...a huge fence around the white house built for no reason during riots which genuinely didn't even come close to actually being threatening to the President.
Also he has unmarked police or military or private guards surrounding him and all throughout Washington DC now, wonder if that is where the $2 trillion in COVID relief is going?!?
Either way, don't let your guard down. It's funny to laugh about Baby gate now but Trump is preparing for a violent battle against the military in November when he refuses to leave the White house after losing and mark my words, he will literally burn the White House to the ground before he leaves.

(86,647 posts)I've been saying for a couple years now that the quantity and depth of the filth in the WH at this point might require burning it down after they are ousted... but I don't really care of they are still inside when it does, do you?

(10,252 posts)Biden doesn't need to be in the WH to act as POTUS. Once he is POTUS, the Secret Service and Fed Marshalls will escort Trump to a waiting helicopter. He will go peacefully, or be arrested for trespassing.

(1,549 posts)I expect Trump will go full fascist, and that doesn't primarily mean opening fire on protesters.
It means opposition leaders "disappear".

(58,785 posts)For those concerned, that stupid fence wouldn't stop anything. Itm, ugly in appearance and meaning as it is, it establishes a useful boundary for the peaceful protesters filling the streets of DC and beyond. Military leaders have stated they won't move against people exercising their constitutional right peaceably to assemble.
And if there's any problem with Trump leaving the premises, that will be handled by the usual high-ups whose job it is -- empowered and backed by the will of the people.
Itm, citizens are putting the fence to fine use as a giant memorial and message wall. Love it!

some have suggested Erik Prince involvement.

(58,785 posts)That stupid fence is intrinsically anti-democratic, but hopefully would work for us by slowing any stupid hotheads from trying to "storm" the WH. Note that our military leaders have said they will not act against peaceful demonstrators. Violent attacks on the WH would not be peaceful and could force action that could benefit the Republicans. (Or benefit us by providing an excuse for the military to move into in the WH compound? I so don't know and can't guess!)
My husband and I, too old to join the current crowds in the middle of a pandemic, were just saying, though, that if the right does move forward with attempted takeover of our government, we will have to join those to take to the streets to refuse to allow it also.
Have to admit, though, that I've been wishing we still lived in the relative security of a strong blue state that will refuse. GA and FL may be red moving purple-blue, but their state governments are not.

Barr will be allow whatever laws to be broken Trump wants, he knows he'll go to jail too.

(9,213 posts)But if he loses and we all just think US Marshalls at going to walk in calmly and quietly breeze him out of there, that is just as naive if he has 1,000 Blackwater guards surrounding him and the White House.
Of course he will lose this battle but he's prepared to take the whole White House and much of DC down with him in his temper tantrum.

(783 posts)Mark my words...he will put a call out to his supporters and every RWNJ with a gun who wants to play patriot will flock to DC to defend their messiah. The next 8 months are going to be VERY interesting.

(3,334 posts)when it is the states that control the election. Do you think that the Republicans would let him try when if he could then the next president of the United States sworn into office on January 20, 2021, would be The Speaker Of the House who would serve for 4 years?

There is no part of the law that says that the executive branch needs governor's approval to enact that law as far as I read it
If I'm wrong go ahead and state it for me
that's just right off the top of my head on something he can do to in effect make it hard for anyone else but him to win

(3,334 posts)It would be totally different if he asked them to do anything that was against the Constitution. My husband took an oath to defend the Constitution, not to follow orders of the President that were against the Constitution according to the UCMJ. This is a Marine town and we have many friends that are Marines whose fathers and grandfathers fought in WWII and Korea and veterans. They take their oath very seriously.
