(1,336 posts)"To serve and protect".
What's happened in the Buffalo Police Force is that they seem to believe it really means "to serve and protect each other" rather than the citizens who pay their salaries.
I'm not anti-union, but I AM anti-union abuse. And I'm seeing too much of that these days.

(8,835 posts)is that a NREMT-Paramedic is around a thousand hours??????. Six Months of Schooling then clinicals and CE's every year. As a prerequisite to applying for "P" school is hundreds of hours of education spent first earning their EMTB, and a year worth of experience in the field as an EMTB. And many times, they are not paid while they are attending classes. In addition, they have to re-rest the written and practical exam every three years.
The most interesting thing is that they earn roughly ONE HALF of what firefighters and police officers earn.
Considering that every single day, they make life and Death decisions, it hardly seems fair......
