I believe this is a more reasonable assumption of what the coward will do after he is defeated.

He will declare that Democrats cheated and that the election is a fraud. He will cry like a baby and ask the supreme court to intervene and they will refuse.

I believe it is far fetched to believe that coward would be able to start a military coup to remain in office. He is too fucking stupid and the military would refuse.

Trump is a fucking coward who uses fear to frighten everybody into thinking he is a tough guy. When Trump loses the election he will lie, cry, bitch, threaten and then in the end he will leave.

Trump talks a big game and then he always backs down when people stand up to him. We have seen it time and time again.

I think he'd resign because if he loses he will be 'The Loser' and that's waaaay off of his fictional brand of being a 'Winner' that's swallowed whole by his followers.

Being 'The Loser' won't help him make as much money after he's out - if he sites being the 'most persecuted president', or 'the media has been too much for my family', or whatever other pathetic excuse he can come up then leaves office it will allow him to save face with his most devoted and gullible followers so he can continue to milk them all they have - and even have rallies where he can bask in the grievance of having been treated worse than Lincoln (or whatever).

Basically, if actually loses the election his base will just move on and he Can't. Have. That.

Did Miley do what he asked in the moment and only later regretted it - Hell yes. Is there one instance in our history of the military not following an order by CIC - never. The commanders will follow orders, it's bred in their bones and it's what they will do. Expecting anything else is just wishful thinking because it won't happen. Now some of the rank and file will desert and come over to our side, but the guys at the top will be exhorting them to follow orders.

I also totally don't expect SCOTUS to protect us. Roberts has never in his life ruled against the oligarchs, or for the people in any political matter. He will break off from the other fascists on social issues at times, but anything that's truly important to oligarchs or the right wing - he only votes one way.

He already has a pistol and knows how to use it. We paid off our house and cars to have more liquidity, got double paned windows to be more energy efficient, planted a fig tree and a pecan tree, a veggie garden & got canning supplies. We will be canning a lot of veggies later this summer. I will go back to my part time volunteer work with the FL Dems in Aug. and provide rides to the polls since I will be early voting. Our friends in NZ want us to come live there so that is something we would strongly consider if things get out of control here. We are old and not in great health, so not exactly in street fighting condition, and really have no idea what that would be like here since it's never happened before in this century. Hard to prepare for the unknown. Actually, guess we should get some new Coleman lanterns. We've got an attachment to our pump where we can hand pump water from the well if the electricity goes out, so that might be handy.

And yes, I do have a good imagination.

I seriously think he has been given a chance to leave with a full pardon and he has refused. He is deluded enough to think he can weather the storm and punch back at his detractors and this time he has fatally miscalculated.

If I am correct, then everyone will dog pile on him at once - allies and enemies - foreign and domestic. It looks like the opening moves have been made these past few days. We'll know for certain if specific things begin to happen in short order:

- The Supreme Court will rule that his taxes must be released to Congress.
- Sitting Republican Senators will openly denounce him.
- The Apprentice tapes of him making racial slurs will surface.
- The Pee Pee Tape may leak.
- New York state may open up criminal charges against him.
- Impeachment proceedings will start again.
- Horrifying stories of crimes he has committed that we didn't even suspect will be reported in the news.
- Most the rats in his administration will abandon his rapidly sinking ship over the next three weeks.
- He will be so openly reviled by the end of this month that Pence, in the name of survival, cannot pardon him.

He has demonstrated skill at deflecting one or two crises at a time because he has had political support up until recently, but he doesn't have the fortitude to survive relentless attacks from all sides simultaneously. I think his fragile narcissist ego is about to be deflated before our eyes.

Mon Jun 8, 2020, 01:22 PM
Jun 2020

Since before he even got the repub nomination in 2016, some DUers have been predicting that he was about to quit.

He was going to drop out of the race for the nomination before the convention. Or during the convention. Or immediately after.
He was going to drop out of the race before the first debate. Or after the debates but before election day.
He was going to renounce the presidency before the EV vote. Or after the EV vote but before the inauguration.
He was going to quit after a few months in office. After one year. After two years. After three years.

None of those predictions were correct. And predictions he will quit in the next month are equally incorrect.

What he has to put off is the early December voting by the electors. After that, the die is cast and Biden will legally (probably) be president as soon as he can be sworn in. But if Trump can get an injunction stopping the meeting of the electoral college, he can put off the inauguration.

And his pet SCOTUS justices will go along, no doubt, and there we are, constitutional crisis and coup.

He might get indicted the moment he's not president, so he might try to avoid that as long as he can. And we know from Bush v. Gore, the "conservative" majority of the court is definitely eager to intervene.

I am thoroughly exasperated by the seemingly endless posts on DU that ask, "What if a defeated Trump refuses to leave the White House?".

Fer cryin' out loud, so what if he does? Occupying that building does not make someone the President. The Constitution does not declare that the President is, "whosoever's butt is in the chair behind the big desk in the Oval Office."

Suppose I manage to get myself included in some VIP tour of the White House, and when we come to the Oval Office, I plunk my own ass down in that chair and refuse to get up. Will that give me the full powers of the presidency until someone pulls me out of the chair?

People have to get real about this. I personally believe that Trump will do absolutely anything, no matter how criminal and treasonous, to hold on to power. But "refusing to leave the White House" will not do the trick for him.

But, as with all his decisions, he will not need the entire military. He will only need to have three or four Generals to agree with him. He can fire the rest.

That would be all he would need to divide the people and to sell the idea to his cult.
