The interview with Dr. Lance Dodes, a retired assistant clinical professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, is part of a new article at Salon this morning:

In this conversation, Dodes warned that Donald Trump is a sociopath (defined as psychopathic personality type) who will do anything to stay in power. Dodes also spoke about Trump's use of the term "dominate," and what it tells us about his desire to control the American people, the country's elected officials, the military and other institutions of power by any means necessary. Dodes also issued an ominous warning about Trump's character and behavior, warning that our president is a moral weakling, coward and bully who will continue to lash out at any and all people who he feels have wronged or disrespected him. Trump's ultimate desire, Dodes says, is to put his boot on the neck of everyone on the planet.

The helplessness created by a powerful predator like Trump leads some people to withdraw into denial that the problem is as terrible as it is.
Donald Trump in fact needs to dominate everyone. It's why he is fundamentally opposed to democracy itself.

Bunker Boy is losing it, and is becoming more dangerous. I do think the solidarity that is happening right now will make it more difficult for him.

I keep telling Dems in Congress to be ready to go with another impeachment after the election because Trump might do things so far beyond the pale that we MIGHT get enough GOP votes to remove him in the Senate to stop the carnage.

The Dark Triad, three antisocial personality traits: narcissism, Machiavellianism, and psychopathy
In psychology, the dark triad refers to the personality traits of narcissism, Machiavellianism, and psychopathy.[1][2][3][4] They are called "dark" because of their malevolent qualities.[5][1][6][7]
Research on the dark triad is used in applied psychology, especially within the fields of law enforcement, clinical psychology, and business management. People scoring high on these traits are more likely to commit crimes, cause social distress and create severe problems for an organization, especially if they are in leadership positions (for more information, see psychopathy, narcissism, and Machiavellianism in the workplace).
