10+ years ago here on DU, I predicted that The country

would see a revolution in my lifetime. Some laughed at me. I am now 60 years old, and I think we might be seeing the beginnings of it now. When a major city votes to disband their police force and replace it with another security agency...

I am praying this energy lasts for as long as it is needed to change this country from top to bottom. You can only kneel on the necks of the people for so long before you have a real revolt on your hands.

It's not a good idea to push people so far down the economic ladder that they have nothing left to lose.

The Birth of a Revolution? You may be right.

At 75 I am thrilled that I have lived to see this. In Portland Oregon my 84 year old husband and I went down to view the demonstrations, safely, from our car. We were thrilled to see young people, black and white together marching 10 abreast on a major thoroughfare by the river. They all had homemade signs with great messages and the parade of Justice went on for 25 minutes! We thought we had died and gone to heaven to see so many young people determined to change things. We hope they can help free this country from the scourges of poverty, greed and racism. We are contributing to NAACP Local, Bail money funds for demonstrators and the Poor People’s Campaign as a way to participate. Bless them!!!!

have been voting for 50 plus years and things are at the point of no return. Fascism is right around the corner. A would be dictator is in office as we speak. We voted and won by 3 million votes and after 3.5 years, tens of thousands have died and the peoples house has a new fence around it that looks more like some tinpot dictators residence in a third world country.

The problem we face is systemic and built in. It is not going to be voted out anytime soon. Change will come slowly and in talking with my son who is talking to his peers, now is not the time to wait. Now is the time for action. They want change now.

I don't know what the answer is. I do know that voting this November is critical and our very lives and the republic depend on winning.

But voting is not "the" revolution. Voting is a right that when exercised properly allows the democracy to move forward, albeit slowly. Young people are demanding change now.

Perhaps now the spark has been lit and people will turn out to vote

If trump gets another 4 years, i agree, the republic has a very good chance to be destroyed

Raise the tax rate on the wealthy to post WW II levels, and you're talking turkey. Otherwise, it will be one form of economic tyranny after another.
