SDPD Officers Under Investigation After Video Shows Woman Detained in Unmarked Vehicle

The video was taken on June 4 in downtown San Diego following a demonstration calling for the end of racial injustice. It was posted with the caption, "Welcome to peaceful protesting."

Authorities said the arrest happened at about 9:20 p.m. in the area of 1400 Park Boulevard. The woman was taken away in an unmarked car and an officer threatened to shoot protesters who came to her defense.

The video shows several police officers and SWAT team members surrounding a kneeling woman, with another woman in the background being arrested. The woman in the background is then seen being taken into an unmarked vehicle, prompting protesters to ask where she is going and what is happening.

One official can be heard telling the protesters, “You follow us, you will get shot. Do you understand me?”

and afraid to leave her house, according to her mother. The people that she was with, including her cousin, had no idea who took her or where she went. She was peacefully protesting. Apparently a police officer said she waived her sign toward him and that she stepped off the curb. Witnesses dispute this account.

She is a very beautiful young lady, and I'm thinking one of the police officers wanted this abuse to happen. I hate to think this way, but San Diego has quite a history of police officers abusing women - so many lawsuits.

There are definitely questions that need answering.

That's a common thing in SD. Remember the CHP up in Lompoc now, who killed a girl he pulled over with the intent to rape her? I lived there then, I never trusted them for that reason.

here in San Diego back in 1986. Peyer was his name. He pulled her over intending to rape her, she struggled, and he killed her. Cara's father never got over her death. He recently passed away.

was a video or this young woman night never have been seen again. Or might have turned up later with nothing to substantiate a rape claim - unmarked car, casual clothes. SDPD could say it did not sound like their cops.

I think the young woman might benefit from calling the ACLU.

Should have arresting/transporting officer checking in time and mileage start and end as to when he took her to jail. If that time is not consistent with travel time, it should initiate further investigation. I hope she already has an attorney. The officer also needs to be sidelined and investigated for the shooting threat. Disgusting abuse.

Why would someone think a fucking minivan was an undercover vehicle?

Where's the bodycam video?
I don't buy the story that the young woman threw her sign at a cop.

I've seen tons of arrests for serious crimes that were less violent.
