Minneapolis police videoed slashing tires of protestors (they assume). Aren't all these people just going to bill the City of Minneapolis for the price of those tires? And, at about $150 per tire, Minneapolis will be out quite a lot of money. I'd really like to know whose dumb ass idea that was.

(17,006 posts)slicing my exes tires would be a bad plan (felony charges) valve stems would do the same thing way cheaper.

(146,317 posts)They have Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensors as part of the valve stem. The old tool that pulls out old-fashioned valve stems won't work, and neither will trying to cut the valve stem.
Besides, it costs between $75 and $150 to replace those TPMS sensor valve stems, so not much would have been saved.
What you can do, though, is use a simple tool to remove the valve core from any tire valve. It costs almost nothing, but it does take about ten seconds to unscrew it from the valve stem. I have a valve core tool on my keychain. I've been carrying it there since the 1960s. It's very attractive, I think.
