There are good people who join the police to help people, to protect communities. I don't believe that all police officers are bad, but I believe that the concept of policing, what it is today, what Police Unions and Fraternal organizations have made it historically and today, is bad.

Police have an US v THEM mentality. My brother in law, who is a wonderfully kind and good person (my sister lucked out meeting him and he is a great father and uncle) uses the term "sheepdog" to refer to fellow officers, meaning WE are either sheep or wolves to the police. That is a mentality that is prevalent among police.

I understand that it is a difficult job and police are being asked to do things that they are not trained and educated to do, to do dangerous things, etc...

That has to change. We as a society need to tackle societal problems DIFFERENTLY. Not with more police or "better" police, more jails and prisons. We need to address social issues with HOUSING for EVERYONE, EDUCATION (good education from K through University or trade school) for anyone who wants it, for free or minimal cost. MENTAL HEALTH services for all who need it for free. HEALTHCARE for all. We need to deal with the root causes of crime, like poverty, disconnection from community, stress, lack of opportunity and hope. Instead of expecting police to enforce order, we need to teach people and give them a reason to want to live in peace and order because their community and their lives are worth it.

Their nimwit fuhrer will give them the ability to wreak mayhem on their communities, everyone around them that isn't a fat white porcine.

The Mayor appointed that guy over a respected African American NYPD police captain. The AA resigned afterward.
