Carol Leavell Barr, wife of Kentucky Congressman Andy Barr, dies in Lexington home

Carol Leavell Barr, the wife of U.S. Rep. Andy Barr, died Tuesday night at the family's home in Lexington, according to Barr's staff.

“Congressman Andy Barr’s wife Carol passed away suddenly tonight at the family home in Lexington," Barr's Chief of Staff Mary Rosado said in a statement.

"During this tragic time, we respectfully ask for privacy for Congressman Barr and his family to grieve Mrs. Barr being called home to heaven. Congressman Barr may release a more detailed statement at a later date, but right now is solely focused on being a father to his two beautiful daughters.”

No further information was provided.

Carol Leavell Barr previously served as the executive director for the Henry Clay Center for Statesmanship in Lexington and married her husband in 2008. She was 39.
