The coronavirus-caused shutdown of the U.S.-Canada border, set to expire on Sunday, has been extended at least until July 21,
The extension comes as COVID-19 cases in the United States have topped 2 million with more than 117,000 deaths, with the virus spiking in several states. There have been just 99,000 cases in Canada.
"I can now confirm that Canada and the U.S. have agreed to extend current border measures by 30 days until July 21," Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told his daily news briefing on pandemic response."This is a measure that will protect people on both sides of the border as we continue to fight COVID-19."
The border has remained open to commerce, but has been closed to all non-essential travel since mid-March. Canada has made some exceptions, for reuniting of families and return of permanent residents, but all entering the country need to undergo a 14-day quarantine.

But, if they're not Canadian citizens, they're stuck "south of the border".
