FLIPPABLE: Jim Bonfiglio for FL-HD89

Jim Bonfiglio is the former Mayor of Ocean Ridge and a democratic candidate for the Florida House of Representatives, District 89. Mr. Bonfiglio is the candidate that came within 32 votes in November of 2018 from flipping a historical Republican seat to a Democratic “blue” seat. Mr. Bonfiglio’s race became statewide and national news after he challenged the Secretary of State to have his race recounted earning the respect of many and receiving national attention from CNN, Washington Post and the New York Times.

Going into November, Mr. Bonfiglio had a 3200 deficit between registered Republicans and Democrats. He focused on reaching out to the NPA’s as well as his fellow Democrats. This strategy got him within 32 votes.

As we approach the 2020 election, Mr. Bonfiglio is doing much of the same. Due to the efforts of the Florida Democratic Party, Andrew Gillum’s Forward Florida, Swing Left, Forward Majority and countless volunteers; Mr. Bonfiglio is currently at a 1700 deficit between registered Republicans and Democrats.

With an enormous effort from many, we can continue to close the gap and cross the finish line on November 3, 2020 defeating a Republican incumbent. Mr. Bonfiglio has not given up on Florida. He and his campaign team have been knocking on doors since the summer of 2019. Jim Bonfiglio graduated from the University of Rochester in 1975 with a double major in Political Science and History. He attended Loyola University School of Law where he graduated in 1979 with a Juris Doctor degree. He was admitted to the Florida Bar shortly afterwards in December 1979. Mr. Bonfiglio focused his practice in the area of mortgage foreclosure defense. He has concentrated exclusively in representing wronged consumers who are facing the loss of their homes to their mortgage lenders since the late 1980s. Attorney Bonfiglio was honored by the Palm Beach County Legal Aid society as the 2008 recipient of the Pro Bono Consumer Law award and is one of the initial inductees in the Palm Beach County Legal Aid Pro Bono Hall of Fame after providing more than 500 hours of pro bono services to indigent clients. Mr. Bonfiglio was also nominated for the 2008 Florida Bar Foundation Medal of Honor Award.

Mr. Bonfiglio is an active member of the National Organization for Women, Palm Beach County chapter, the Rusty Gordon LGBT Democratic caucus, the Palm Beach County Democrat Executive Committee, member of Ruth’s List Palm Beach County and the Democratic Women’s Club of Palm Beach County among many other community organizations. Jim has lived in the community of Ocean Ridge, Fl since 1988, where he currently resides with his 2 rescue Shar Pei dogs. He was appointed to the town’s Planning and Zoning Commission in April of 2000 where he continued to serve in that capacity until March of 2014 upon his election to the Ocean Ridge Town Commission. He was re-elected in March 2017 and retired as Mayor and resigned from the Commission to run for Florida House of Representative in 2018. Mr. Bonfiglio’s zest to run for House District 89 is to make life easier, better and safer for his constituents
