He "hates losing" much more than he "likes winning" and might quit if he thinks he'll be embarassed by a landslide loss.

(58,785 posts)While speaking about the RV industry recently, he whined that maybe he'd buy one and drive back to NY with Melania in the trailer. Now, that's a cartoon picture I want to see!
But seriously, he and his cadre seem to have realized that his happy "glory" days are over. Reportedly, he has no enthusiasm for a future filled with the giant pandemic and economic disasters he's created.
I'm not holding my breath either, but he's trapped in a corner desperately looking for a way out. If a way to cut and run to safety presented it just might be more appealing than risking his future on the election. If he won he'd have to serve another term in an awful job that was never what he thought it was going to be, and it's looking as if health problems might be real.
While if he got home free, he could have his own TV show again, every show a rally of loyalists.

Barr is now being investigated by the House, whistle blowers are coming out all over. You have John Boltons book, his niece writing an expose of family misdeeds. His Ill health getting worse by the day.

(1,755 posts)Is vote him out. Vote. Vote. Vote. Pipe dreams are a waste of time. He still can win in November. Remember that and remember how you felt Nov 9 2016 after realizing dumb ass Jill Stein voters and protest nonvoters helped repukes win, control the Senate, and pack the the courts.

Who knows? He's getting his marching orders from Putin and the oligarchs. The best interest of America is not his concern. But boy do the right wingers love themselves a war. How can you even consider voting against an incumbent President during war times? you can already hear them say it.
I bet Bolton would get real chummy with Trump and take it all back.

(32,719 posts)he wouldn't have enough troops for that war and be able to maintain peace on the streets of this country.
At least he'd find some use for the bunker.

(9,670 posts)Nothing energizes a fascist more than a war that liberals are universally opposed to.
There'd be an uproar, to be sure. But faux patriotism is what's being preached from the pulpit....and the news media. Let's not forget how the mainstream media lapped up the Iraq War in spite of all the dire warnings from Democrats.

He will declare victory and walk away before he loses.
It is exactly what he has done with his businesses.

(7,817 posts)but he's going to split off from the GOP and create his own media empire combining grift, adulation, and fundraising with social media while lobbying for Russia/SA/Israel and living out Putin's promise that he would be one of the richest men in the world. He likely helped direct trillions of dollars to people who promised him a taste...time to collect. Getting away with corruption and grift and cheating has always counted as a win in Trump world.
His whole life is revisionist...I can see him saying that an electoral win was guaranteed but he just didn't need it anymore.
